They certainly have the capacity to get back to the top. Quite easily, in fact. If they had someone with clear vision and nous, it wouldn't take them long.
The key, IMO, is to keep the status quo with the way they're run - the Glazers, a lackey like Two Planks, and no DoF. It doesn't matter who is managing them with these leeches in charge, they won't have a discernible effect. A while ago I suggested that the last thing we should want to happen is for them to get relegated after a bunch of posters stated it was their biggest wish, which caused some of those posters to deride the suggestion. However, it's a significant event that could become a catalyst for a proper supporter uprising and/or sale of the club, even simply because the earning capacity of the club is at severe risk of diminishing rapidly, potentially causing the Glazer twats to sell up.That is absolutely the only thing they care about here.
Keep stringing them along with all these big false dreams, promises and hopes - 'we have so much money, we can buy anyone and do anything' and mentioning that they're Manchester United Football Club repeatedly. After basking in the glory of their latest defeat, I read something quite pertinent on Ragcafe - something along the lines of 'Ed Woodward is just a new Mike Ashley'. Amen.
