They earnt itAnybody seen the media outrage about a Manchester club spending 50million on a defender?
But can you do it at high speed? Why should he get 250k per annum when I'm on less than half that before bonuses and not only am I better at my job than he is at his (and worth more to my company) but I'm probably better at his job too? I can give the ball away with the best of them.
Where've you been?Read it and weep you tossers......Christ I thought 19 was embarrassing, but.......

He's played a grand total of 46 games for Crystal Palace, and is known apparently as a brilliant last-ditch tackler. The cynic in me says that he would have to be able to do that, as he is managed by one of the most dour, defensive dinosaurs in the PL, namely Roy Hodgson, who sets his stall out to frustrate his opponents wherever and whenever possible.
The acid test is "what is the rest of his game like"? Fortunately (or perhaps not so fortunately), we have seen him recently when he stepped up to play for he under 21s.
It would be right to say that he can perform last-ditch tackles quite competently, but, in my opinion, that appears to be the extent of his talents. Going forwards (as most defenders are expected to do at the higher levels) seemed to be beyond him, as was his passing ability and positional sense. To crown his performance, he scored a last minute own goal by trying to clear with his "good" foot when his other (left) foot would have sent the ball AWAY from the goals.
As you may guess, I'm not impressed with him as a player, and certainly NOT as £50M player.
I may be (un)pleasantly surprised, though.
I thought that 20 million they spent last season on a right back, Dalot, they said he was going to be the next big thing, or the 16 million they spent on a right back in 2016, Darmian was going to be world class but its a case of whoever they buy, its the next big thing and next world star
Remember when this sort of thing was a City thing? I think we had 3/4 on the payroll at one stage, it's almost like they aspire to be like us.Anyway, happy David Moyes contract expiry day to everyone!
A truly good player wouldn't have last ditch tackles as his strongest suit simply because if the rest of his game was any good he wouldn't need to do so many of them.
Pep Guardiola's Man City recorded the fewest number of tackles in the Premier League in 2018-19
Not true you can't win anything without being the best at tackling... oh wait!
