Thought it was a day game definitely a different one a few years before , but I remember the keith curle equaliser, rammed that match.

Drank that much in those days, they are a bit of a blur.)
It was a midweek fixture. I’m almost certain of that. White absolutely did Bruce for that penalty. Went fucking mental behind the goal when Curle scored that goal.

Brilliant night.

Yes I concur Def a night Match

David White could have won it if he hadn't had sliced a shot wide at the end
Aargh!!!

I was in the paddock with my mates and Paul Nolan wearing a Leeds shirt.

That's how fucking strong in numbers City were in there that night.

When Curle scored Nolan stood on the fence between the paddock and Stretford End and was going mental.

Craziest night ever had at a football match. They couldn't believe it - Mikey Williams had sorted me and my mates out for about thirty tickets the week before.

Nolan was protected on the way out by Mikey and a ton of Blues, hilarious.

I got my ticket for that game off Mikey Williams!

He went far too soon.

Yep, he always looked out for the younger lads from Moss Side, making sure his crew never took the piss on tickets.

He bought the City chippy on Claremont Road and was a very smart operator.

Bizarrely, I was at the game when Rooney shinned it and afterwards we walked back towards Sale and got talking to Ian Brown from the Stone Roses and his blue supporting brother.

Brown brought up Mikey's name when told him I was originally from Moss Side. Used him to move loads of tickets and claimed Mikey had 30-odd properties when he died?

His brother 'Pebbles' was still doing tickets inside the bookies near the swamp a few years back?

Mikey was my go to guy for tickets for big games, if my old man couldn’t deliver the goods. He was reliable and didn’t take the piss on prices either.

Manchester led the way on touting back then and it really pissed me off the way legislation subsequently moved against working class lads simply using the forces of supply and demand to get off their arses and earn a few quid; especially given all the parasites that live off the game today.

A little while after Mikey passed, but a mate of mine went to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 and saw a few familiar Mancunian touts plying their trade and taking the Yank ‘scalps’ to the cleaners. Respect.

Never felt more proud to be a Mancunian!

Was it the 1-1 game when Kieth Curle scored the pen and carried one of ours back towards the centre circle? Loads of us in the paddock that night with a big police circle round us just letting us get on with it :)

PS - David White should've won it for us near the end but totally fluffed his shot if I remember rightly
Didn’t we have a player sent off that night?

Dissa Pointon, IIRC.

When my dad first started taking me to Fulham (these days, that'd be classed as child abuse), I had to stand on a wooden stool to be able to see. I was about 5, and it was end of the Johnny Haynes era, and we were still in the top division. About 3 years later, we were in the 3rd division, and I could sit on that very same stool - and had a totally unobstructed view of the game!
Lovely observations mate, getting to like you more and more.

Yeah, seem to remember Giggs sliding in pretty late on Pointon's ankle as he cleared it, leaving him in a heap. Think the game got stopped for a bit as he got a bit of treatment and then remember Pointon going totally mental at the ref. for giving nothing. About a minute later the ball bounced up as Giggs tried to control it and Pointon just came flying in and straight legged him right in his belly/balls :) Red Card. Kinda turned the game in our favour though, IIRC and got our tails up. Crazy night as others have said.

I remember the commentary that night which was as usual rag bias.
Griggs foul on Pointon was a bad one but the commentator said."Hes only 19(or whatever age he was) " followed by some excuse as to his enthusiasm. I remember my Dad saying a 19 year old can break somebody's leg as easily as a 30 year old!
Then it was if Pointon had attacked the Pope when he went into Griggs!!!!

You do remember rightly. I was there and couldn’t believe he’d missed. Completely skewed his shot from about 3 yards out. Not sure I ever truly forgave him.

Great tonight that night which would have been even better had White not sliced wide from about six yards. It's a shame that the only footage I can find on You Tube doesn't have the Pointon tackle on Giggs

Two questions;-
Whatever happened to Nicks sports shoes?
Has that copper/steward behind the net made himself a door frame to stand inside?

Remember it well. Awful pitch, ale house football from both sides, but I miss those days like hell.

How has Fernades got in the BBC team of the years after six league games ? as for Sir Lancelot Henderson winning the player of the season before KDB the mind boggles , BBC awards are nothing more than a popularity contest for the Dippers.
