I was in the main stand too, probably a few hundred scattered about in there. IIRC some of our fans in the scoreboard paddock got pushed towards the corner with the main stand at one point. Grim atmosphere before and after the match, it was difficult to keep a straight face queueing for the bus back to Sale afterwards.
I got on the bus back to Belle Vue with my dad, the 53. A rag asked my dad for a light, my dad said that he didn’t smoke . I asked why he said because he did smoke, a lot. My dad said ‘ he didn’t say please , so sod him’ . Petty but it has stuck with me all these years.

Di Maria was their man of the match. He is that good he plays on a Wednesday night.
The rags sold Di Maria which is one of the many reasons they play on a Thursday night.

He is a good player who was wasted by the rags and the shit players that he had to try and play with.

A club that can turn wine into water , the useless cunts.

Too young to attend that day so how many blues were in the ground that day?
I was there with my younger sister and her boyfriend - so that is at least THREE definites. We were in the main stand at the scoreboard end. We sort of stood behind stanchions after the goal as the rabble were running everywhere looking for 'blues' to punch. Needless to say we stuffed our scarfs inside our coats and we wet our faces to simulate tears. And my sister and her boyfriend huddled together pretending to console each other. Walking back to our home in Gorse Hill we kept our heads down mumbling "mutter, mutter" until we were well clear of the ground and then we went berserk with joy.
