Or the Rags are ripe for a take-over because the Glazers are finished financially.

Not sure they are that ripe - you can buy other clubs with less debt for a great deal less - United's income - setting Covid aside is pretty much maxed out. That's why investors look at Newcastle instead - relatively cheap to buy, less debt, and a huge potential upside to grow the club and generate value. There's also the key point that the Glazer's will cling to a sinking ship - as PB points out borrowing long term to take short term cash - they are milking the sacred cow and wont give it up until its completely fucked.

Pogbas contract was due to expire in June next year. That means he could negotiate a transfer this January to move on a free
Because of his inflated wages no one could afford to buy him this summer so a club 400 mil in debt have had to extend his contract by another year. They are now forced to continue paying stupid money for someone who doesn't want to be there in the desperate hope someone buys him next summer.
What a way to run a club. I can't stop laughing.

Cough..its 474 million.

The level of financial illiteracy on the Caf is astonishing. Even people claiming a knowledge of finance are talking utter shite. One guy claiming to be a financial analyst is even saying it's quite alright to borrow money to pay dividends.

The first thing you learn in finance is that you never borrow long to pay short. In other words, don't take on long term debt to pay short term expenses. That's how people get in trouble with payday loans.
And bank bailouts.

that is crazy to think that united can just keep on signing big money players and the debts keeps growing
and all is rosy in the world of FFP, if manchester city was in that much debt it would be a problem with FFP ? manchester city are debt free showing profit and its still a problem for FFP ?

its a dirty game and laws FFP. rules are made up to suit the elite clubs all running very big debts and they don't give a shit how high it is, the £500 million debt united are in would save the whole of the lower league clubs from folding in the next 5 years

the debt united that they are running is set on asset. so with the way the world is right now the banks should be calling in all the money they can get there hands on, if i was them the first call would be to united ?
the biggest club in football they says well pay up clear your debt

I hope you are right. The United brand is still huge but another decade of their current performance will damage them hugely. Those overseas fanboys are very fickle. The Glazers are in a dire crisis. United is essentially their only cash cow these days and now it's bleeding cash. They keep their US accounts secret so no one knows what levels of debts they have on their property business and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Also noteworthy that they've given Chevrolet an extra 6 months sponsorship for free. Sounds like they're struggling to get a new shirt sponsor.
I thought that was really odd, especially given the hugely inflated initial deal they had with Chevrolet which led to the resignation of the Director who negotiated it. There has always been something dodgy about that deal.

Or they can sell X2 shirts with either a new sponsor or a plain shirt (doing things the right way spin) as no company/dodgy excecutive will pay over the odds....again.

The Buc's will be another cash cow. The way the NFL is structured - without a pandemic you are guaranteed to make money (for years the Buc's ran with one of the the lowest wage bills in the league). That's why the US owners in the PL want to restructure things to guarantee income by destroying the pyramid, stopping (or controlling) new entrants and introducing a salary cap. Give it 10 years and the PL will be run along similar lines to the NFL.

The thing is - its not just United - Barcelona are equally fucked as are a few others within the old guard. I think we know how this will play out - when the likes of United and Barcelona need more cash there will be a league restructure and they will simply help themselves to more of the pie at others expense. Watch this space....

It's bizarre that I now find myself looking at UEFA as the defenders of football.
