United Thread - 2021/22

Over on the t’other sides forum they have an excellent thread about the scholes/lingard revelation, followed by mctominey follow-up and now multiple quotes from ragnick about the clusterfuck going on.

I just looked at when I joined BM, sept 2015.
It’s been 6.5 years I’ve been posting on here about united.
In that time, it’s been said by me, and by probably 100’s of others far more eloquently, that there are many many issues at united:

Arrogance - they were good for 20 years, ‘it will always continue’. That one word, contains a million reasons for their current situation.

‘The United way’ - I think the last year has finally buried that from the last few holdouts in their fanbase.

financial zombieness - they had the golden goose, they spent & spent it, and now the lying platitudes (‘dream of playing for united’) are coming home to roost, money & players come in easily only when you are successful.

Media spotlight/old player pundits - it’s like Liverpool in the 90/00’s , does them no good and makes everyone else despise them.

infrastructure and community investment - announcing a lick of paint to great fanfares, isn’t the action of a club going anywhere but circling the drain - a la City in the late 90’s

buying old mercenaries - no surer sign of emergency plasters being applied to shore up a crumbling edifice.

‘celebrating’ and using the past - the phoenix like ascendancy of marking/milking the Munich disaster in the past 2x decade’s compared with the previous 5x decades.

going through the full spectrum of managerial types and playing styles every 2 years - no plan, no foresight, just headless chicken control

Ferguson hanging around - if ever you wanted to sum up the whole shitshow, you have it on display every home match as the camera flicks to showing the ‘glorious’ past sitting watching the dire present. Rock of Gibraltar set in motion the runaway train, but there’s been multiple points that could have pulled the emergency cord and saved the slow train wreck emerging, but due to point 1 , they didn’t. And now like Shankly and Busby before him, a football club can’t move forward till they cut from the past. Jelly and ice cream , should remain in the fridge for as long as possible.

to sum up/tldr:

oops.

In the last 24hrs I have read that their dressing room is toxic plus WreckitRalph is preparing a "dossier of shame" on each player to hand to Tent Peg - what a fucking mess they are in
Just seen the headline on a back page he slammed yesterdays officials. They got their penalty and Rat face yet again avoided a nailed on red getting a yellow only so not sure what he can moan about

If lack of experience means someone shouldn’t have an opinion, this site is doomed!

I’d love to hear your plan for Total Recall 3, but may have some questions about logistics at the end.

I don’t think sticking to the day job is a valid response. It’s an attempt to shut down the debate by trying to discredit the person it is said to.

It‘s similar to Champagne socialist. Apparently nobody who has any sort of money can enter a debate on making life better for poorer people than themselves. All socialists must be homeless or be hypocrites.

Real Madrid and Barca fans moan when they win everything, so I’m going to discount them from being normal fans/clubs.

I suppose there is a difference between posting stuff on a message board and getting paid by national broadcasters and/or newspapers. But then the ex-rags are employed because of who they are not because they ever say anything interesting.

I didn't say he shouldn't have an opinion. I never pay much attention to pundits at half time as their waffle bollocks.

Paul Scholes has been a manager, still talks absolute bollocks.

Sticking to your day job might not be the best way to engage with someone and persuade them they are misguided. But maybe it isn't always attempting to shut down debate it is just that it isn't worth having.

In other news...

NASA and the Human Genone product still haven't got back to me about my plan.

Apologies if posted already.
The gift that keeps on giving

  • Set the Culture
  • Improve recruitment
  • Structural reset
  • Clear playing style
  • Embrace youth
  • Develop players

1 is an ethereal concept and is not actionable. 2 and 3 are outside of the control of the manager. 5 and 6 are the same.

So his six point plan is actually "play identifiable football and promote young players" which is something that United have been doing for many years. Truly a work of genius.

Seeing as camelgob knows so much why arent clubs falling over themselves to employ him as manager ?

I still dont understand why he is on tv a drugs cheat they must be thousands of good honest ex pros who could be pundits
