The narrative has already started that United must be allowed to begin a rebuild when Ten Hag arrives or their owners aren't fit to own the club etc("spend loads of money or you're bad owners", such a contrast). You just know the UK media aren't going to try and criticise it one bit. They'll ignore the fact that they've currently got the highest netspend of any club in Europe in the last 10 years while they do it. I did a post on that, around the time the CIES Football Observatory put their report out.

I forgot to add the PL all time expenditure top list comparison, so here that is:

They are £240m away from City's gross spend and just £230m away from matching City's netspend in the PL era. That's without adjusting for inflation, which would likely already have them way out in front by any measure of spending.

Spending doesn’t count when you are rebuilding :-)
How many rebuilds/transitions have they had since GPC moved upstairs ?
Dippers not quite the skint club we are led to believe either !!! Although fair play to them selling shite for big bucks.

Yeah, I wont deny it's annoying looking at how much Liverpool have raked in from player sales though. An extra £238m with 118 fewer player sales. United brought in just £7m less than City have, with 144 fewer player sales.

It's clear we should be doing better in that area but I still think there must have been a pact with the clubs that did have the money, to offer City peanuts for good players. I also think, the fact that City didn't cash in on players like Silva and Aguero and so on, is a good thing for football, rather than a bad one. It shows all the people claiming City built a team of mercenaries were wrong.
