The award Rashford got was a 'buy off' from the government.
The lad, literally, became the leader of the opposition at one point, and fair play to him for that. But, by accepting the award he has diminished his own standing, and at the same time allowed a government, that voted to take food away from children, off the hook.
He may now have an mbe, but kids are still hungry.
He should have refused it until such time that legislation was introduced to eliminate child poverty and hunger in this country. THAT is what he could have achieved. But he took the bait and promptly stuck that moniker onto his twitter handle.
So, let's look at the upshot of it all.
1. Cunty Government get off the hook
2. Rushford gets an mbe
3. Utd bask in reflected holy glory
4. Kids are still hungry
5. Families are poorer

And the government state that Britain isn't a corrupt country? Everyone is corruptible in the right circumstances. Even St. Marcus.
"How about a joint PR campaign that's bags you an MBE?"

Not like the Tories have form on giving out honours for doing something for them.

Nobody ever condemned Vinny for all his charity work, yet it was barely reported in the press, if at all.
Or Bellamy’s or Sterling’s or any of the other hundreds of pro footballers who do loads of charity work in this country & beyond

He’s done a really positive thing, some of which may of course be for self gain, but he’s no saint & certainly shouldn’t have been given an MBE

I’d have been really impressed if he had said that all the extra money he receives from tax loopholes he uses was going to help feed kids in need. Don’t think he’s made that statement tho has he?

I would have found a way to stop.
It's only 55mph on U.S. freeways.
To be fair to the rag's parents anyone might keep going if the situation is beyond help and they had an impressionable child in the car.

Firstly, I agree that the royal patronage system is insidious and corrupt. That said, life isn't black and white and people's actions often have more nuance than simply choosing between the good guys and the bad.
I don't know for sure (being a pasty white decidedly socialist Irishman) but I imagine that not a lot of black working class kids, like Rashford, get offered a seat at the establishment table. The opportunity to be inside the golden circle working for change might have been very tempting for him. On the other hand, it could well just be an ego trip. Possibly both...
Wouldn't be my choice but I can see how others might be tempted with the best of intentions.

Tell me about it.

The two scariest places I have ever driven were on the I95 near Miami, and the I75 near Atlanta, during rush hour.

Not a good idea.

I love my local (Atlanta) rush hour of 12 (TWELVE) lanes of traffic going 10 mph !

The average ‘fast’ driver in the US doesn’t have half the skills of the average UK driver.

Can OGS survive November and do you want him too? I think Chelsea away is a key game (28th November). They are already 5 points off 4th spot, If they lose to Chelsea then that is going to put their CL qualification at risk and that will be the red flag for the Glazers.

I would prefer them to limp along under OGS rather than appoint a good coach like Potter or Rodgers.
Getting out of ucl group which is key, such an easy group & they could quite easily be bottom. Once top 4 is out of sight & they're knocked out of ucl, he'll be gone
