Now Mr. Mancini, what would you tackle first?
I'd tell that drunken old fart to piss off. I did it before, and I'll do it again.
Talking of the "drunken old fart", BBC Radio Four keep tailing a programme that's on tonight - all about Ferguson, "an interview with a legend". Sycophancy coming up by the bucketload. I bet they don't ask him " When are you going to call it a day and let the new boss do his own thing?" , or "What do you make of the mess the rags are in now, after the rubbish you bequeathed to them?"

Not only that, I noted from the TV listings that something called Pick TV was showing a programme the other night about the history of Man United, "directed and co-written by Eric Cantona", and entitled (sickeningly) "The United Way".

I think there's only the rise of the Nazis that gets more blanket TV coverage than this lot. And on Sky as often as not "Premier League legends: Gary Neville".

All about the past. Cos that's where that lot belong.

This all bodes very well as far as I'm concerned.

The more documentaries and TV series they air about that sespit of a club the sooner the reality will hit home. It's over.

Look at the Titanic, once she sank she became the talk of the town. I'm not sure the movie would have had the same appeal if she made it to New York.

For the little it is worth i think many of the united flops that were linked to City would have looked very different at City. Pogba's comments about not having a position is basically admitting there is a huge coaching issue at united. Pogba is a talented footballer who has wasted his time at united. The same can be said of many players in recent years. No one seems to improve there.

They are so obsessed with their own dna that they keep Mike Phelan and Darren Fletcher in key roles. Neither of whom have a great record of success (or in Fletcher's case any record of note for his role). A quick look at their coaching staff show a lot of their coaching staff have links to united. It seems a very incestious and cosy environment but one where the man at the top gets the credit or the blame.

In a way it is very direspectful to their staff and a subconscious admittance that their role doesnt matter. What is important is the 'great man' as the figurehead. So fill those roles with anyone because it is only the manager who is important. Everyone else is putting out cones. It is not a serious club. It is a cult or personality.

So the biggest problem at Manchester United is the mythologising everyone buys into. Part of that is the great man mythology of Ferguson. Until this becomes deconstructed they will continue to make bad choices but they never will because it fundamentally undermines all the rubbish they chat. Instead they double down on the dna thing. Ole was a symptom of that now the united fans are turning to the academy as their last hope. Sack all the players and play the kids. It is why the stadium isnt acknowledged as the dump it is (although this is changing a little and people are beginning to get frustrated by the cramped seats and leaky roofs - chat last year moved from Glazers taking money meant the couldnt compete in transfers too no money is put into infrastructure).

The beautiful irony as the media mourns the rubbishness of Manchester United is that in the last 4 seasons they have finished above the worlds greatest team, with the greatest manager, greatest owners and the only thing preventing a City monopoly, 50% of the time. They havent finished above City for almost 10 years
