Sky have put an article up ‘Manchester United’s Decade in the Dark’.
A good hammering of all things rag failure. Worthy of a giggle to squash any pre-semi nerves this morning.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.Naah. We agree on a lot most of the time, but that was on de Gea. We all know, and he knows, that he isn't good with his feet and we all know, and they both know, that Maguire has the turning circle of an oil tanker. Firstly, Maguire calling for the ball doesn't make it his fault, as some have suggested. I am assuming de Gea has a brain, here. Also, being told to play the ball out from the back doesn't make this ten Hag's fault. Again, assuming de Gea has a brain, there were other options. He must have seen the three pressers converging on Maguire and then he underhit the pass, so that they were nearly on top of him when he received it. There was nowhere for Maguire to go, unless we suddenly expect him to move like prime Nureyev and shimmy past three pressers into midfield. That was never going to happen.
De Gea's fault all day long.
As an aside, these balls from the keeper to a defender under pressure in centre field just outside the box give me the willies every time. I don't know who started this shit (Neuer?) but it has taken a couple of years off my life expectancy. It looks good when we do it because we have the keeper and defenders/midfielders to deal with it, but it will cost us at some point and when it does I can guarantee you that people will be saying, and quite rightly, that it was Ederson's fault for choosing the wrong ball.
No difference here especially when the players look like the Keystone Cops when they to play intricate football with their feet.
Who’s the highest? Bruno, the anonymous Brazilian guy, the midget CH?randomly looked up Jadon Sancho's contract just to remind myself, note this is in dollars ...
- Transfer Fee: $87,940,000
- Sancho is the No. 2 highest-paid player at Man United
- Sancho’s 2022-23 salary accounts for a staggering 9.04% of United’s $4,584,681 weekly payroll
- Wages per week: $432,909
- Free agency: 2026
Nope, it’s the worlds greatest shotstopper aged 31.Who’s the highest? Bruno, the anonymous Brazilian guy, the midget CH?
Ah the guy who can’t trap a ball. Worth every penny. Hope they give him a new deal.Nope, it’s the worlds greatest shotstopper aged 31.
Fair dues to Wan-Bissaka there, really difficult to play Ocampos (?) onside but he gave it a good go. Luckily Sevilla didn't need him. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.
But I thought it might be helpful (and enjoyable!) to have a gif of the De Gea-Maguire hilarity for reference as we continue to discuss (and laugh) at the incident.
Look at all that space behind Maguire when he receives the ball. A simple dummy would have opened up the entire pitch, something Rodri, Bernardo, Kev, and even Stones would have used in the past for us. As I said in my original post, the “press trap” can be quite effective when you have the players suited to it.
Wow. Just wowrandomly looked up Jadon Sancho's contract just to remind myself, note this is in dollars ...

Wan-Bissaka is always innovating.Fair dues to Wan-Bissaka there, really difficult to play Ocampos (?) onside but he gave it a good go. Luckily Sevilla didn't need him.
