The problems at Man U are well documented and have been apparent for a couple of years now, so I’m wondering having appointed ETH what their rebuilding strategy is. I can’t discern one other than what seems to me short termism and questionable player acquisitions. Am I missing something?

I thought they might follow our strategy at Arsenal by clearing out all the dross and rebuilding around youth and sensible acquisitions but I suspect they don’t have anyone with a football brain at board level. Might they also be strapped for cash?

Who knows? But long may this shambles last. A decade of two of humility might be good for their collective soul, assuming of course it hasn’t already been pledged to the devil.

You sound like a Scouser. Arsenal have spent fortunes on transfers and wages to get to where they are at the minute.

Agreed. But they have got rid of the dross and the players stinking the place out.
They’ve spent but in the main they’ve recruited well.

They’ve spent less than United, been more imaginative and backed a decent young manager.

Your manager worked with Pep.
You have bought Jesus and Zinchenko who will give their all every minute they spend on the pitch.
Your club have managed to acquire a couple of diamonds in them.
Hopefully you can achieve 2nd spot.

Martin Odegaard, Saka, Gabriel, Martinelli.

Yeah, they're young, but in my eyes, if they gel, they should do well.

All you say is true, but in the end the Glazers are responsible for the chaos.
1. They appointed an accountant with no knowledge of the football business as CEO.
When he left, they did it again!
2. The structural failure is in their power to put right. They have appointed a stats man as DOF having failed to appoint one at all for a decade. Just to make sure their statistician could do the job, they shared it around with two other guys. Wtf is a technical director? Who is this guy in charge of transfer and contract negotiations?
3. Their consultant told them they needed 10 class players to stop the rot. They sacked him off. Belatedly they appear to believe it now and are running around in panic making offers for any player whose name they can spell. Meanwhile the manager is trying to recruit all his old players, always a dangerous strategy, see e.g. Santa Cruz. We could loan them Txiki’s jumper to help out.
4. Oh and the old toilet is falling to bits.
Glazers IN.
Tee hee. Happy days.
To be fair, they are also going for any player whose name they can't spell.
