Bumped into my wife's Uncle Bob. Originally from Portsmouth so only naturally he supports Utd. Had a season ticket for a time in the 80s & 90s.
Anyway he saw me with a City shirt on and said "what's that shit you are wearing".
My reply - "not as shit as you lot are now".
Imagine my shock when he said "I gave up following football about 5 years ago"...................Really

At a service station in the middle of France chatting to a couple from Manchester, last month ,inevitably football came up.They used to have S/T's at the swamp,but " football is just about money now" so we don't go any more.Their one compensation was the season they stopped our unbeaten run at the Etihad,poor saddo's. Didn't bother stating the obvious about football.
Thought it might be more fun to adopt a different tack and kept saying never mind ,Pep might go and the Sheikh might get fed up ,the hope on their faces was a joy to behold. It's the hope that destroys.Love to think of how crushing it must be already in the season. Does this make me a bad person?
