Kick It Out's statement on Bernardo: "We are extremely disappointed to see the tweet posted by Bernardo Silva, which has since been deleted.
Racist stereotypes are never acceptable as 'banter', and we're shocked that someone who is a role model to millions has failed to understand the discriminatory nature of his post.

"The FA have been notified and we believe that retrospective action should be taken, including mandatory education - which is vital to challenge offensive behaviour such as this."

Kick it Out's CEO Tony Bennett on Sky in relation to Garnacho;

"In all these situations I'm always conscious that what I want to do is avoid outrage because I think outrage is often blocking the opportunity for dialogue and learning in these situations. And I think it is a perfect opportunity to create a dialogue and learning around this incident"

Hmmmmm
Ridiculous that. Bernardo’s wasn’t even a racial stereotype, it was just him saying an individual looked like a cartoon from his country.

Agüero being likened to an Argentine cartoon character to get his nickname wasn’t racial stereotyping, so why was the Bernardo:Mendy thing?

What Bernardo did wasn’t even as bad as what Gazpacho has done. Yet the difference in those statements shows that even Kick It Out has an anti-City stance.

Neither of them should have been banned/fined though.

Well what a surprise.

Two completely different stances on identical incidents.

That’s football fans for you.

I completely disagreed with Bernardo receiving a ban and fine. All that should have happened is - well firstly the media needed to shut the fuck up - he should have been warned that our culture in Britain around race and what can/can’t be said and done might be a bit different to yours in Portugal so just think before doing anything in the future.

That’s all that needs to happen here. Just because Bernardo was given wrong punishment doesn’t mean everyone else should afterwards.
I think most law is based on precedent. That said comparing a brown skinned round headed man to a brown skinned round headed cartoon man isn't really the same as comparing a brown skinned human to a fucking Gorrilla. The connotations between apes and black people alone distinguishes the two episodes

Just been on their website...."first of all we're just like you, football fans".

No pen pictures or details of who any of them are.....I assume like all leading organisations they're stuffed full of redshirt wankers.

If you use an orangutan image after posting a photo of a Scottish red-haired player, are you a racist? Just asking for my client's legal defence.

https://emojipedia.org/orangutan

The same legal team published the below today:

"A emoji symbolizes strength and power. It might pop up when someone’s describing a really buff person or an amazing feat of strength. It can also describe a person with a tough-guy attitude who’s a little rough around the edges."
