Ratcliffe has not bought 25% of the club.

The glazers owned 69% of the club and Ratcliffe has bought 25% of that. So if my maths are correct he actually only owns 14% of the club and paid £1.2B for the privilege

This is true to a point, he has however bought 25% of the voting rights of the club as the A shares, those held by the hoi-poloi have no voting rights and are in effect useless in terms of running the club

The first part of your sentence is incorrect. He owns 25% of both the Glazers' B shares and the publicly listed A shares.

The second part however is spot on.

Not sure he does own the A shares at this point, though he has made a commitment to buy up to 25% of them

The more i hear about this deal the more fucked up it seems, lets assume for a minute that the Glazers decide they want to sell up but Chemical Jim hasn't got the funds? Who would spend the money they would want and yet not have ant say in the running of the sports side of the business? Likewise, say it all goes tits up on the field and Ineos decide they want out, who pays just for control of the team but no commercial input.

Suppose the Saudis come back with a huge bid for full control, the Glazers want to sell up but scruffy Jim doesnt.

Can see a shit load of issues in the future.

Brailsford was looking intense because the brown paper package from the pharmacy hadn’t arrived by k/o. Came at half time and made them runaround like 2 year olds.
