A repeating theme on Rag forums is that their glory years are being eclipsed by City, and being forgotten about, it’s not easy being a cockney red
That's why I want this 4th title.A repeating theme on Rag forums is that their glory years are being eclipsed by City, and being forgotten about, it’s not easy being a cockney red
Dodgy fookers.Typical subjective Liew opinion piece for clicks. No mention of the role of Sir Alex Ferguson as a manager and his influence in all aspects of the running of ManU during a near 27 years tenure, starting well before the Glazers. His fall out with the majority owners at the time over Rock of Gibralter horse stud interest led to the sale to the Glazers.
In 2003 Ferguson began legal proceedings against Irish horse racing tycoon John Magnier and lost the case. At the time Magnier with his partner JP McManus, posed Ferguson 99 probing questions about United's affairs, finances and transfer dealings. They were never answered or finally pursued so remain unresolved. (no accident they were trumped by less specific PL 115 City charges, almost certainly part of an agenda)
It is reasonable to assume Fergusons influence within the club extended beyond these specifically, identified so not questioned by the Glazers because of his success in continuing to generate cash for them.
Did Ronaldo not say on his return in 2021 that the training facilities at Carrington remained the same as when he left in 2007? The Glazers had backed Ferguson and his successors who were all supported and rewarded handsomely. For all of his success, the blame for the decline of ManU starts with the hubris of Sir Alex Ferguson. The Glazers can only be accused of short term ROI and greed but they did make a financial killing whilst loading United with huge debt.
None of this would have happened if not for Ferguson with the support of Gill. They were the instigators of the decline. No moral outrage then back in the day, pre Glazers, from the Guardian who are Liews paymasters now.
United won't answer the 99 questions
Manchester United's directors will not - and say they are not obliged to - provide answers to Cubic Expression's queries about club affairs.www.theguardian.com
So glad you added that last sentence. As a yank I have seen the general public bamboozled all too oftenIndeed, does the tax payer also pay for upkeep, I’m sure the FA will pay for its own upkeep. I was miffed my tax went to pay for Wemberlee and handing West Am a stadium, I’ll be raging if my money went to the rags. Can’t imagine anyone south of the border wants to pay for a new Hampden or Pittodrie. The once richest club in the world, owned by billionaires shouldn’t need a penny. It might work in the NFL and other yank sports but they can F off here. And if it was City I’d be against it too, this transcends club affiliation.
There’s a few new NFL stadiums getting built, Jags, Bills and Titans and around 50% of Costs are being met by tax payers. Same tax payers who baulk at the “communist” idea of a uk style health service. The standard tactic of the billionaire owners is to threaten to move to another state/city, like The Chiefs might do.So glad you added that last sentence. The Chiefs considering moving from Kansas City? There’s a few new NFL stadiums getting built, Jags, Bills and Titans and around 50% of Costs are being met by tax payers. Maybe the rags can move close to their fan base and relocate to the actual Wembley, though given how often we play there it’s kinda our second home. They can fuck off to Beijing or Kula Lumpur for all itd matter
@ 1st glance I thought 'twere CR7Has the bird sat behind the odious toad Coe got her wobbly bobs out??
The left one or the right one?@ 1st glance I thought 'twere CR7
Correct and the rags under his rule broke the British transfer fee more than any other clubForgot to mention that the rags were amongst the richest clubs in the world when Fergie took over. They bought their success without scrutiny. Same as nearly all clubs through the ages.
