Judging by this so far, going to take some getting used to making these players play the way he wants. Having 3 defenders (essentially 5 with the wing backs) should make them more solid and make the transition easier but it’s done the opposite.

Martinez legging it out of position into midfield because Ugarte/Fernandes aren’t doing their jobs. Garnacho and Antony not tracking runners. Fernandes not defensively sound enough to track runners or have the awareness. Mount meandering around.

They’ll attack better than they did under Ten Hag but defensively they’ll be even more open than they were…somehow.

Reminds me of the first season under Pep. We were mint going forward when he first came - different patterns etc. - but the defence was rocky and we were open. He always harped on about ‘second balls’ and I think it takes a few games for foreign managers to recognise that importance.

Hopefully they continue to be shit.

I think you're flattering them a bit there??

Yeah, tenuous. It’s early days but they’re getting space in certain areas purely down to the change in set up. Mainly in the wings. I remember being amazed that Silva/KDB could have so much space but it took a while for it to fully click.

If you read the bit in brackets about "top players" it was meant make of what you want out of their top players they've signed. We know that the top players they have signed are ridiculously overpriced and overrated but that's their look out. The main thing is they are still allowed to pay huge fees despite of the ever mounting debt they're in.

Sorry it's my sarcastic personality, coupled with an inherent hatred of the massively over-hyped rags.

It doesn't matter who they have as manager.
Somethings wrong in that club.
From top to bottom they're fucked.
And apparently we're in trouble.
I know which camp I'd rather be in.
We don't care if we're shit again.
We're just glad we've been brilliant.
They think they have a right to be at the top forever.
That's why it makes me laugh when armchair rags try to take the piss.
I just laugh.
I literally don't care.
I've lived beyond anything I ever thought possible
