United Thread | 2024/25

Apparently far from Pep-like, according to some, which calls to question if we were genuinely interested in him. Our links to him seemed to be journalists putting 2 and 2 together because we got Hugo Viana.

No doubt the Rags will still use this vague thread to build up hype around their new man. Prepare for phrases like "shrewd business" or "beating City to Amorim", as they did with Maguire, Fred etc.

I think he's probably a good coach, but the EPL is a far different beast. The media hype around Ten Hag wasn't that much different and look how that ended.
I was still awaiting the Johan Cruyff/Ajax total football the media promised us from Tent Peg, right until the bitter end

Fucking Camel Gob ****.

They were actually talking about him on TalkSport one of the days, A few of which had him in an all time Premier League team...Ludicrous!

He spent 12 years at the Rags:

x6 Premier League Titles
x1 Champions League
x1 Fifa World Club Cup
x1 League Cup

So let's take Ruben Dias as just one example:

He's at City 4 years:

x4 Premier League Titles
x1 Champions League
x1 Super Cup
x1 Fifa World Club Cup
x1 FA Cup
x1 League Cup

Four Premier League Titles in a row.
A Treble Winner.
Five trophies in one season.

It's absolutely mental that Camel Gob gets so much recognition, It's more bizarre that people listens when he speaks.

I wouldn't let him clean Ruben's boots.

There is a great article on ESPN about Ten Hag. I don’t know if the article will appear on the UK/global ESPN site but it’s eye opening.

He’s a control freak, most successful coached are to a certain extent, but he borders on insane.

It chronicles his relationships and issues with some of the players and back room staff. It doesn’t paint a flattering picture!!

That doesn't entirely surprise me, as he is definitely a strange personality with a deluded thought process, going off his press / tv interviews .

Nobody with the issues surrounding the rags, can possibly believe what they are saying, unless they suffer from a strong deluded personality issue............imho.

The flipside of that is inevitably articles like that were always going to be published after Ten Hag has been sacked.

They done the same with Moyes, Players sticking the boot in when he left along with the media. Mourinho also got it from the media and players. Wreck it Ralph also got the bullet (for speaking the truth about the hierarchy in a press conference) yet he still got blamed for their downfall.

It's a vicious cycle at the Rags, Personally I wouldn't read too much into that article that's just my opinion, No doubt one or two sources from the club making a pretty penny from the press to talk bollocks about Ten Hag.

Yes he was an atrocious manager, He spent millions and millions on players, Why did they continue to give him any player he wanted in his time in charge if he was such a **** with players and backroom staff?

Those players have thrown every single manager they've had under a bus time and time again and the manager is always the one who gets the backlash. The players are an absolute joke, They'll get a new man in charge and we all know what will happen.

Looking at the bigger picture, maybe he was sectioned to the Swamp for 2 and half yrs.
He might be on the mend now he's been released

He has always been an utter ****.

Right but even a cursory knowledge of Portuguese football is enough to know that 90% of those were won by Benfica or Porto. Might as well say Simeone is shite because Real, Barca and Atletico always win La Liga.

Amorim has done a really good job, won their first title in 20 years with half the budget of Benfica and 2/3rds the budget of Porto. Rebuilt the squad after the title winning team got sold off, and the fact he's beaten Arsenal and Spurs and gotten a draw against us with a squad that cost less than Ipswich's is a sign he's not just knocking over weak sides.

He was a good manager before United got linked to him, and he's still a good manager. Probably won't help him at United though.
As you say, he's a good manager but in the Netherlands & Portugal you've really only got 2 competitors if you manage one of the big 3. The PL is a completely different ball game.
