They can say what they want publicly, I don't believe that's their waiting list for a second.

Probably sent out some kind of survey saying "would you be interested in a season ticket at united?". People might say 'yes', but have zero intention of shelling out for one if the opportunity came up.
I've heard of people - on the waiting list, getting a call out of the blue that a season ticket has come available - but having to turn it down because they don't actually have the cash for it! Either they just put their name down in case, their financial situation has changed or they never actually expected to get the call.

Phone rings and wife answers
“hello it’s the Manchester United Ticket Office (TWGC). We have a unique opportunity to purchase a season ticket. Can we speak to your Husband?”
Wife relays message to Husband then replies
“I’m sorry my husband is dead”.

I billion debt.
Want to borrow another 2 billion to build a circus Tent.
Share price tanking, lowest it's been, 25 % down this year.

Yet the giddy pundits and Media lap it up.
Look at Wembley - Originally quoted as £200m to build but cost between £750m - £1bn depending on the reports.
Bramley Moore, originally supposed to cost £500m but coming in at over £800m.
Spurs new Whitehart Lane originally quoted at £250m but came in at around £1.2bn!
There is zero chance that a stadium as intricate as the one shown in the renders is coming in anywhere near budget - and if they're quoting £2bn now, this could actually be the thing that sinks that rotten club without a trace.

It's like their claim of 650 million supporters when they seriously can't fill the stadium they have most matches, the whole show is built on lies and piss smelling sand :)

or maybe they came to their senses.

See United are relying on our "Nation State Owners" industries to build the modules that will enable them to build the Pink Elephant in 5 Years.

Immense amount of work for people of Manchester. But modules mean we can build stadium much more quickly. There are yards in world that will build structures which are then shipped. Abu Dhabi, Indonesia, Thailand. Five-year project rather than ten."

in my recent experience, modular builds can be a blessing and a curse. Mostly a curse.
More expensive to build but the costs can* be mitigated with a faster programme. Thats the theory.

* once the programme starts to slide you are in a whole carousel+ of shite.

+ fitting term for this project.

Just watched that Omar Berrada interview.

He said that they have 170,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets. This is just the waiting list, not including the current season ticket holders. Madness, looking at the last decade.

It's very telling that they are focusing on that group of people who are supposedly waiting in the wings, because that is a market that isn't being exploited yet, because they can't get in.

I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with some sort of limited games type of season ticket, where you get 10 games max.

I can deffo see this coming down the line, because regular match goers don't spend any money, because they all know how much of a rip off it is. So you just replace them every 10 games or so with idiots who stock up on merchandise from the club shop.
That's a really good idea - partial season tickets. They could be sold in bundles as well with premium prices for big games ...

Season Card A - Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea - £600

Season Card B - Everton, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton - £500

Season Card C - Forest, Bournemouth, Fulham, Palace - £250

Season Card D - Southampton, Ipswich, Leicester, Wolves - £250

I bet there would be interest in all of those and you're getting £1,600 per full season card. Also, people only going to 5 games a season will have more money to spunk away in the club shop.

You should write to scruffy Jim.

Have you got something against Brentford?

Share price just hit a record low.

The Stock Market doesn't like Circuses

I’m very dubious that this will happen, but if it does, I hope the government loan them the money at 50% APR.
Considering they have a "billion" fans then I suggest they each put a couple of quid in.

Where do people get this ' ONE billion ' fans when everybody knows it is actually 657 million....there is a big difference you know.

My guess is that when that happens, they don't even take them off the waiting list either. Just keep them on it and let the numbers build up whether they're interested still or not.

Wouldn't be surprised if some on the list are not even with us any more.

And, when they see the price of them.

Exactly - the stadium that ends up getting built will bear no resemblance to that render... the big top/tent looking bit is supposedly glass... which will then mean the frame of it will be steel... the costs will skyrocket worse than Wembley and all that glass will be an absolute nightmare with the weather we get... add to that the dirt, bird shit….
Did somebody say bird shit?

If they’re in trouble the government will step in to help them. Fucking obvious what’s going to happen if they’re struggling. Same as what happens when they’re struggling on the pitch the authorities always help them out

They'll need a good 500 million alone to sort out that squad, scruffy Jim isn't thinking football he's thinking entertainment venue with a football team welded onto the side at a jaunty angle.
