A bit harsh, and inaccurate.

Firstly, he or she identified them as being from Trafford, which is correct, and stated that they were nearly in Salford, which is kind of correct, as the centre circle at Old Trafford is about 500 metres from Salford.

The closest point in Manchester to United's ground is more than 2000 metres away, so Old Trafford is definitely closer to Salford than it is to Manchester.

But apart from that.

Their actual words were that United were "Trafford (almost Salford) gobshites". This simple statement does not imply that United are based in Salford, so it was incorrect of you to suggest that it did.

You then incorrectly said that United's ground is closer to Manchester than it is to Salford.

It's no biggie, but I'm my opinion, you were being unfair to the person you replied to.
