Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has guaranteed supporters the club will finish above rivals Manchester City next season.

City are on course to win the Premier League title, while United have endured a tough campaign and sacked David Moyes as manager in April.

But Charlton, a director at United, says it will be different in 2014-15.

"Next year I guarantee that we will be number one in Manchester. We like to be first and we will be first," he said.
Not in his lifetime.

Be fair, he had been standing too close to the Govan Pisscan and got a whiff of his foul, alcohol-drenched breath and collapsed shortly after in a drunken stupor.

just heard on a podcast that when Rashford, Sancho and Casemiro go in the summer, they will drop to 5th in the wage bill stakes. Behind City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Just to note, for over a decade, the PL winners have never been below the top 2 of spenders. A team in 5th, is destined only to be scrapping around for FA cups and Europa league at best.

Scruffy Jim and his penny pinching will see to that.

Don't these knobheads realise that the scum will probably go out and buy three players, thus the wage bill will not be all it'll seem. The amount of rose tinted shite I see out there is truly nauseating. I fuckin despise the bastards.

So, they’re not going to buy any new players?

Because, if they do, it’s as sure as eggs are eggs, that any new signings will want a huge salary for the privilege of joining the second club in Greater Manchester.

And that means their wage bill will be higher than fifth.

It will only last until the end of the sumner transfer window

The end is here. And we pay for this shite.
I haven't clicked on the article but the very fact that it exists at all, combined with the overly-positive noises about Carrick's remaining at the wheel*, might be a hint that the famous Yernited "war chest" is looking a bit Mother Hubbard-ish.

* They say "at the wheel" but 'on the deck - as the water keeps rising' might well be more appropriate.
