Good point of course but we aren't a squad of 25 superstars. It would be good if we had anyone to give Sagna a break. Replace Wright as third choice keeper. A left back worth taking a chance on while Clichy was out and Kolo having to play each game. No one pushing Navas.
But it'll come.
I've just read @twosips excellent piece on the FA Youth Cup and City's squad for it at http://inesteemedkompany.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/fa-youth-cup-preview-analysis.html
which just makes The Independents piece even funnier.
It's not that simple though and possibly it's not as simple as just blaming Mancini or Pellegrini (although I suspect that neither were/are really that interested in the younger players). There's a whole process to go through to get the youngsters ready for the first team and I know that Arsenal start this when they're 16. They stop teaching technical skills and start to focus on things like strength, stamina, vision. All the incidental skills that will help the 17 & 18 year-old kids bridge the gap.I wasn't disappointed to see Jim go tbh. But from that moment on, I expected a big difference/improvement in that regard. It seems like the academy has indeed improved beyond all recognition, but the chances for kids to actually play, has almost disappeared, no matter what the circumstances.
I hope I get a look at him soon then. It's one of the few things I miss from the olden days. Young players coming through like Peter Barnes. Sagna has been great as Zab backup but the guy must be feeling it. But 9 days to recharge for Zmas.We definitely have someone to give sagna a break. Maffeo's arguably our brightest prospect. 100% definitely is ready. He's as good a defender as Kelechi is a forward. He's fucking class.
Maybe not but I wouldn't bet against one of their pet sponsors coughing up a large sum to name it.So the Glazers are prepared to put up £200m to build an academy like ours are they?
No chance.
