United Want To Match And Better City's Youth / CFA Academy

I tell you what. There are certain generic whinges which I hear from City fans year after year after year after year. That the press hate us. That the cup draws are rigged. That the ticket office is rubbish. That the fixtures are fixed. That everyone adores Man United. etc etc.

The one which bugs me the most, because it the most baseless and one-eyed, is the perennial "We don't give kids a chance" whinge. City as a club, like every club in the league, are obviously desperate to start bringing youngsters through to save The Sheikh's money. That's why we invested £200m to build an Academy, and spend God knows how many millions a year staffing and running the thing. We are seeing the fruits of it right before our eyes right now with various kids becoming integrated in the squad step by step. Yet people seem to want us to behave like Crewe Alexandra and start throwing in scrawny 18 year olds in games we have to win.

Every single first team game is too important to take risks. These exact same whingers will be crying like babies if we get knocked out of the FA Cup because some petrified right back gets skinned by a quick winger with 10 years first team experience. The days of "giving kids a go" are long behind us: the integration of young players is now a heavily researched science involving the psychology as well as the physical. City are right at the head of the pack and pay people large amounts of money to implement this. It is happening right before our eyes and will continue to do so.

We have Ileanacho on the fringes of the first team right now and his progress this season has been great to see. But it's absolutely clear to see that he's still nowhere near ready for regular starts, and the same goes in spades for all the other kids I've seen playing a part. There is a huge gulf between EDS level and first team level; enormous, and that's why players go out on loan.

I've heard this whinge for 20 years and it is not based in reality. Pretty much everyone of these "he deserves his chance" players never made it. QED.

Great post. Totally agree.

I don't think you really understand peoples criticisms to be honest.

Pretty baseless assumption. And shows you don't really have a lot of faith in the position you have taken if you have to strengthen your argument by inventing how the other side will act in a certain situation.

The Ticket Office is rubbish though.

I will tell you why I actually do have faith in my position. Because on my side is Sheikh Mansour, Khaldoon, Soriano, Begiristain, Pellegrini, Marwood etc. And also the fact that there are no players out there who we lost to direct competitors because we didn't play them enough. On your side are a couple of faceless guys on a forum whinging the same whinge I've heard for decades.

I suppose you support their "keep the cheese" pre match campaign as well.

Its not jaw-dropping ,its a list of young City players, who the poster thinks are good enough and at least deserve an opportunity at first team level.
Others would say many on that list, have no chance of making it at the very highest level, with or without that opportunity.
Many on that list are not physically strong enough to play at this moment in time, at the highest level
It is all about opinions.
But at the end of the day,the manager stands or falls by results. And the level that we are playing at dictates, who he can or cant pick.
If these kids were thrown in and we were getting beat, this forum, would be in meltdown.

I didn't say any of them would make it.

I have no idea which players will make it. And I wouldn't want to see them 'thrown in'. I would like to see them gradually introduced.

And if you are telling me that Garcia & Pozo, who Pellegrini HAS used, are physically stronger than most of the other players mentinoned I would suggest you don't have a clue.

He can pick Pozo to play vs Phil Jagielka with his back to goal but Kean Bryan isn't strong enough ? Laughable.

What a load of bollocks.

I would have given it a more comsidered answer, but seeing as you are disrespecting & insulting everyone who doesn't agree with this garbage as 'whingers' I can't be arsed.

We may as well give up having an opinion on any aspect of the club if we're going to have that attitude.

And once again.

Marwood has told you that he agrees with Pellegrini not using any of the kids off the bench has he? What about Vieira ? Does he agree with you too ? And Sheikh Mansour ? He told you Maffeo isn't upto 20 mijs as sub for Sagna did he ?
