Hey! Can anyone recommend any areas similar to Ramsbottom for a first time buyer? We love the idea of moving there as we're a big fan of the pace of life - we like the village, the types of houses (that kinda cottagey brick, wood burners in most houses), the greenery nearby etc - but it's so, so expensive these days. Properly gone mad. You're looking at a small two bed terrace with basically no garden for 200k, which is silly tbh. Considering a tad further out (Rawtenstall or sumat) but we're open to suggestions.

Does anyone know of any areas kinda like Rammy that are sorta taking off/improving but still reasonably priced? Green areas ideally around it, village feel, decent transport links/schools. Any advice would be welcome. Cheeeeers.

If your chosen areas are out of reach financially, then I’d look to move as close to that area as possible, but finding a house you are happy with.

The surrounding areas are likely to catch up with your desired area over time and you can use the appreciation to move there.

Rawtenstall is the obvious next best if you want somewhere on the M66 but you want to be close to the A56 if you need to get to Manchester for work and 100M can add ten mins of traffic.

Todmorden and Walsden if you want good train links, cheaper version of Hebden Bridge these days and prices will only go up in the next few years. Watch out for flood areas near the Calder.
