I've heard this one a few times growing up in North Manc.
Heard of Daisy Nook? Well the story goes that in the 70's one night a woman was driving down the steep hill at Daisy Nook, then as she came to the bottom of it she heard a bang. She parks up, gets out and looks to see if she'd hit anything. Nothing. She gets back in the car and pulls away only to see the car behind her flashing her furiously. Before she has time to think about it she's stabbed in the neck and dies. Someone had got in the car after she'd pulled over. Ooooooerrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Used to shit me up that tale as a kid.
I live near there not heard that, but wouldnt suprise me especially if the fair was on & it was 1 of the gypos!!
I live near there also, but i wasnt alive in the 70's so couldnt comment on who dunnit.

Isn't there a rumour in every northern city that during the 60s the Krays came to town on a train to take over the local crime scene, and the local gang met them at the main station of the town and put them back on the train to London.

This actually happened. My grandad was a pub landlord many years ago and many of the barrow boys were meeting in his pub. He went to Central Station (formerly GMEX) with the barrow boys who were all standing on the platform wth bike chains, guns and other associated weapons and the Krays didn't even step off the train. They did a complete about turn and headed back to London. My grandad told my dad and he told me so I accept it as being true

There was a Gang's programme on one of the crime channels , they interviewed one of the originals of the QSG and he said the Krays were staying at the Midland Hotel , got a visit and told to go back home , which they did.
