One thing I CANNOT STAND are entities deciding something is offensive when the person/people to whom the comment was made take absolutely zero offence.
I understand what you're saying there but I'm not sure you thought it through. If A makes a comment to his friend B, on a public platform, that is clearly racist then others are entitled to call it out. Particularly if that platform has a code of conduct that makes it clear that racist remarks are not tolerated.

But in this case Cavani used a friend's longstanding nickname, based on his hair colour not skin, which was non-offensive. I don't think anyone else had a right to get involved in this particular case. Maybe a quiet word would have been appropriate at worst.
