US & Israel attack Iran

As someone who is a non believer in religion i find it very sad that nearly ever war is over a book written over 2000 years ago.
Whilst I get your point.
Plenty of wars not involving religion.
  • The Napoleonic wars
  • The American Revolution
  • The French Revolution
  • The American Civil War
  • World War I
  • The Russian Revolution
  • World War II
  • The Korean War
  • The Vietnam War
  • The Ukraine war

Is it smart to be advertising the fact that HMS Dragon is waiting in Portsmouth harbour and will be setting sail for Cyprus soon? As we are getting told it's the only boat we have that can do what it does, would it not be more sensible to keep its location and plans a bit more hush hush

HMS Dragon…..The only ship we have available and it’s a mine sweeper due to be scrapped. :) it’s not smart to advertise military plans on national TV

Whatever the rights and wrongs of this war are, one thing is absolutely clear. It’s all about Trump playing Billy Big Bollocks and no potential consequences have been thought about. We know at some point Trump will declare victory and will move on to his next target.

It's been an absolute fuck up from him, his arrogance and pig headed nature has finally come back to bite him and the rest of us. He has absolutely no understanding of how the world works and simply thinks he can bend it into submission. Doesn't work like that in reality.

Him not having his head blown off before the elections was a disaster.

Trump is shuffling the pack he’s set on world domination in partnership with Netanyahu, currently dropping bombs on Beirut while no one is looking taking out his foes in Lebanon, Gaza and Iran.

when he was floundering he tried talking over the ex-diplomat - its funny how many of the people who bigged up Matt Goodwin are also expert military strategists isn't it?

Seen loads on X asking why that Frigate hasn't been sent yet - they seem to think its like driving a car - just turn the key and go. I mean you need fuelling, food, arming and a crew (who are probably scattered around the country on leave ) and get the orders, charts and then you are ready to go. I'd imagine fuelling a warship makes charging a 10 year old EV look fast.

The US build up had been known about for some weeks before the first strike.

For whatever reason or reasons - we were unprepared.

HMS Dragon isn't a minesweeper or about to be scrapped? Unless I've missed the joke, in which case sorry!
No joke Sky News may have been joking the usual military expert described it as a mine sweeper and it’s due to be scrapped. :)

The BBC has HMS Dragon - a Type 45 Destroyer - will be sent to the region as the US-Israel war with Iran continues to spiral

It’s a destroyer less than 20 years old and is the only ship apparently that is capable of doing the job that isn’t being worked on at the moment. Typical of the MOD to be ready for action at a moments notice. We have major MOD sites around here and the level of incompetence is staggering

I. have massive respect for the canadian and Spanish leaders.

proper statesmen, not spineless like germamy and france alongside us

Carney agrees with the war, but with a sad face. Spain is consistently the sane voice in Europe

I would to know just how long it would take to go from 60% to 90%. What infrastructure would it require? What timeframe? Do they have the technology/science capacity.

There are so many mixed messages. "Nuclear weapons in a week". "We've obliterated their entire program".

USA and Israel should be in front of the UN justifying why this action is necessary and why its necessary now. If they can justify that then the UN and other countries should support them.

Iran for their part should explain why they need their stockpile and what they plan to do with it. If they can do that, then they should be allowed to carry on without interference from other countries (subject to continued inspections etc).
There are two parts to this really.

1) Were Iran trying to acquire a nuclear bomb? The fact that they have fissile, enriched material pretty much proves that. Maybe they wanted to do it quietly for defensive reasons as per North Korea but either way they lied about it.

They negotiated previous deals in good faith on the understanding that they would not acquire nuclear weapons, that's why the IAEA was monitoring them. And yet here they are with highly enriched U-235, something that costs billions to develop and engineer so you just don't do that for the fun of it.

2) Were they imminently acquiring a nuclear bomb? Perhaps not. They can acquire the nuclear material but having a system capable of delivering it as part of a combined weapon system is something very different.

A greater worry with this isn't the scenario where Iran fires a nuclear missile into Israel or anywhere else. That programme was destroyed but the nuclear material still has to be accounted for because it could be turned into a dirty bomb or who knows what. The intelligence groups will obviously know a lot more than we do.

It's relatively difficult to say that the US or Israel were wrong to do this but it's quite easy to say that it was going to happen eventually.

I wonder if a very peaceful world would suit the USA. It's been at war with somebody or other ever since its Inception and certainly in the last 70 years it's been a very profitable business. Some people make a helluva lot of money out of all this.
Enemies are therefore required. The media owned by people who benefit from this state of affairs are constantly telling us how bad X is, how bad Y is. So that when we finally attack no-one is surprised.

When we look at the heads of state assassinated by the US or allies, Gaddafi, Sadaam, Khameini they are often countries whose major produce is oil. I know this is no shock revelation. But when people are banging on about helping ordinary Iranians it might be wise to consider the motives of the Western Alliance.

Like Gaddafi, Hussain and Khameini were peace loving people?!!!!

Syria has fuck all oil in the overall scheme of things which kills your overall argument really.
