The reality is we also rely on America for security of our interests in other parts of the world.

So until our country grows up and seriously invests in greener technology, moves closer to Europe and lessens our reliance on the Middle East and America, it's unfortunately a balancing act.

And as usual, our government tries to take a balanced approach and pisses off everyone.

The straight is only closed to certain nations if you've noticed. It is closed to us precisely because of our alignment with the US. We need a different relationship with countries in the world going forwards, not one that serves US interests and makes us a target.

As far as securing our interests around the world goes, the US is only going to secure them where it is in their interests for them to be secure, a fact which isn't going to change as a result of us refusing to allow them to use our bases against Iran. Do you honestly see the US helping secure anything that isn't strategically important for them?

At some point we need to accept that in order to reset our relations with the rest of the world we need to cut off the ball and chain keeping us firmly planted in the old ways. This can be the start of better ties with Europe but also better ties with the Middle East and China, with more diplomacy using carrots rather than sticks.

The US have a weird combination of superiority and inferiority complexes which make them think they are both better than everyone else but that at the same time everyone else is a threat to their way of life. They are dragging us down with them.

The reality is whoever is in government would be advised by our security services not to join in the war, but that we need the straight open and for Iran not to retaliate against our interests. We also rely on America for security of our interests in other parts of the world and right now with Trump in power they're that petty and unstable they'd retaliate by withdrawing their security.

So it's a balancing act. That's the reality.

Now we all know the US and particularly israel have no qualms, and in israels case in fact seem to enjoy killing kids, but one thing they do care about is their own pr - will they blow away a load of civilians with something that there are so many eyes on? No is my guess (they'd do it if people weren't watching in the blink of an eye).

Must be AI... they ALL wanted US and Israel to bomb the fuck out of them to rid them of their Regime according to some posters early on in this thread.

If he uses nukes there’ll be no oil for years from that region and the middle east allies will get radiation blow back as well.
