US & Israel attack Iran

All the noise around Trump hides the fact that 1,461 have been killed in Israel's campaign in South Lebanon. 4,430 have been injured, and 1.2 million have been displaced. Israel now occupies 14% of Lebanon, yet our media is utterly silent.
When you say our media is utterly silent and I go on the bbc website and the main headline is Lebanon, and then I watch Sky news and a Lebanon story is played repeatedly on their news loop it makes me question where you must get your news

Dropsite reporting israel have murdered over 200 civilians in lebanon today. The live streamed war crimes are back:

Bbc and western media continues to provide cover for these massacres. Still after all the israeli lies we get "Israel says", dearie me:

How long we giving it until lammy tweets about how "concerned" he is?

It's going to be Cooper lamenting the ongoing attacks on Lebanon without blaming Israel.

Fair challenge.
I will have a look. I was specifically speaking of The Daily Mail, who are going all in on Trump's noise, and there is nothing about the situation in Lebanon. I was up hideously early, and I can see the BBC is now headlining and I am pleased.

This truce is wonderful, the Israeli’s carry on regardless making themselves more and more disliked and the Iranians say you still can’t transit the Strait of Hormuz without their say so.

Donald Trump meanwhile carries on in his personal fantasy bubble.

"”It's something the president has discussed, and I think it's something the president will be discussing in a couple of hours with Secretary General Rutte. And perhaps you'll hear directly from the president following that meeting later this afternoon”

Trump is known to be annoyed at Europe failing to help in his illegal war, he is known for changing his mind so we’ll see in a couple of hours

Hi, I'd seen that.
When I first read your comment about Fox, it read as though it was a fait accompli - not sure why!

Yea looks it.

I flicked lbc on to hear the propaganda this morning and they had ferrari giving priti patel a cosy little interview, he asked her about the 250+ deaths in Lebanon and she just fell back to "hezbollah terrorists", "iran proxies" etc. No challenging her on the mass murder of civilians, or mentioning the funeral bombed, or how hezbollah agreed to the ceasefire and stopped firing, just an opportunity for her to pump out the propaganda lines unchallenged (that morons will now parrot).

Trump can talk about this all he wants, but unless he gets a two-thirds super majority vote in Congress to leave NATO, then he can Foxtrot Oscar.
That's the law!

It's better if they fully leave, than a half out half in that he is proposing where there is zero benefit to the rest of NATO except having an enemy in the ranks.

I actually think this is a good time for them to go, Russia is bogged down in war so coming at the rest of Europe now would be suicide, Poland would crush them alone I reckon. We could get our shit together as the usa fuck off, the bases they have round Europe could be used by allies, the infrastructure is there now which is always the most expensive bit, Ramstein etc could be used by the uk, France and others. We can still buy arms off the USA until we get ahead and then go European. If our government isn’t looking to alternative to usa nukes in our subs then they are fools, the next 10 years we could stop our reliance on them. The USA can never be trusted again, just look at Vance and if you think Trump is the end of this you are sadly mistaken. I’d rotate the head of a new NATO every 5 years currently the usa are always in command so I see this as the only way forward, I’d put Poland in the hot seat first as they seem to have their shit together.

It’s literally the main story on the landing page of BBC News in massive shouty bold letters with rolling minute by minute updates and live 24/7 studio news coverage.

Do tell how that is “utterly silent”.

I’m shocked that people still fall for ANY country presidents Prime Ministers Rulers agreeing to deals on paper and think they abide by it! We have seen Trump lie through his teeth Boris Johnson lie Starmer lie and so on! So all this back and forth on here with so called facts being put on here, how much can we really believe? Or is it what those countries want us to believe?

Us peasants are so gullible to the real world!

I think it's a good thing that it should (theoretically!) be difficult for the US to leave NATO.

The child Trump could easily sell arms to Russia instead (to prove a point about how great they are), move into Greenland and annexe it, and it leaves Canada looking more isolated - I don't think there's any way that the US will do anything militarily against Canada, but who knows what lunacy Miller comes up with.

I was wrong. She's just been on radio 4: "What Israel was doing with this escalation of strikes was completely wrong".

You mean like how Iran behaved, signed up to the JPCOA and got sanctioned anyway? Or how they behaved and agreed to give up all HEU and got attacked by the US and Israel anyway?

North Korea largely exists because the Americans deposed the chosen leader of Korea post-Japan, Lyuh Woon-Hung - a man still revered in both Koreas - because he was a communist, and the newly independent people of Korea choosing to become communist, like their neighbours China and Russia, was deemed unacceptable. The US military stepped in, forced him out, instituted the 38th paralell and then banned communism in the South and put in a dictator who killed tens of thousands, sent hundreds of thousands to re-education camps, enacted several massacres (look up Jeju Island) but looked after US interests.

Iran has been under continuous sanctions since it's people decided they no longer wanted to be ruled by a US appointed tyrant who killed hundreds of thousands of them, didn't even bother spending money on things like running water or electricity for most of the country, and siphoned off all their natural resources to his own pockets and US companies.

Both of these countries are aggressive and defensive, and isolated from the rest of the world where tyrannical regimes can survive because they were under attack from their inception because it was deemed to not be in US interests.

That is why they want what has proven to be the ultimate deterrent from being invaded.

Then we in the west look at these regimes we created and tried to stamp out and ask why they can't just behave like everyone else.

Both are shit regimes that commit crimes against their own people, but god knows there's been plenty of those in the last 100 years who didn't get invaded, and weren't closed off to the rest of the world so that eventually democracy could seep in.
Interesting stuff about Korea, which I didn't know. Whilst Vietnam's history and US involvement in it, is the subject of many books and films, Korea's past is a bit before my time.

If they leave NATO they need to immediately be pushed out of all their bases on NATO soil. If they're not allies fine but we treat them as such. No special deals, properly tax their chain restaurants and coffee shops, over time move away from american culture and influence and move closer to our european friends.
