It really is bizarre how certain people are falling over themselves to try and rewrite parts of their (very limited) history.

Reminds me of a famous quote on studying history:

"History will sometime DISTURB you,

If studying history always makes you feel proud and happy, you probably aren't studying history".

If German kids get taught about the Holocaust why can't American kids learn the truth about slavery?

I am quite certain all the posters who criticiz(s)e Biden for being too old for his role will be in here railing on McConnell. In fact, they are typically so quick on the trigger I am shocked I'm the first to post this.

No matter how much I disagree with another human being politically, I'd never wish harm on them.

Except one of those cases involves minor tax evasion and the other includes espionage and attempting to overthrow the government.

The false equivalencies and double standards of the modern GOP are astounding. The are hundreds of examples, such as McConnell blocking the Obama the Obama administration from appointing a Supreme court judge, claiming they were 'following a long standing tradition' in not fulfilling a nomination in the middle of a presidential year. We all know what happened in Trump's last months in office when the ACB appointment was forced through in record time with weeks to spare before Trump was potentially out.

More recently, the documents scandal, where the false equivalencies were off the scale. Trump knowingly and wilfully taking and holding on to the highest classifications of document, then lying about it on multiple occasions when asked to return them; Biden having a brain fart, holding hands up and giving them back immediately when asked.

And the Empire?

Yes, it's hardly mentioned in the UK curriculum, but I'm pretty sure our schools aren't forced to teach 'alternative facts' or just make shit up about the Empire. Most UK kids know there was an empire which involved slavery.

I was talking to a Brit when I was on vacation and he was telling me how he thinks the republicans are best for America. I then took about five minutes to explain how our healthcare system works and he immediately changed his tune. I showed him a FB page that raises money for a local kid whose organs don't work so he has to carry around a backpack that filters things for him. He's been in and out of the hospital countless times and is basically under constant medical care to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. I explained that before the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) insurance companies would have denied coverage and his parents would have had to remortgage/sell their home and go into millions of dollars of debt throughout his life which would have ruined their credit rating meaning they could never buy another house or even get a car loan. Then I told him that even with the Affordable Car Act insurance can cost families well over $1,000/month and even then there are out-of-pocket costs for doctors visits, prescription drugs and hospital stays.

No other civilized country would put up with this shit and the vile GQP has people believing that a system like your NHS would ruin America.

I bet GQP clowns in the US call you a communist.

I wouldnt be upset if he dies. It would probably be a good thing as thats the only way he relinquishes his power. He's a total **** and has done lots to make the lives of poorer Americans even harder.

Trouble is, that party just has a solid line of uber cunts lined up to take over from him.
