I can't be arsed unpicking that lot, but the fact you think the Joe McCarthy attempted blackmail which led to the death of a sitting Democrat Senator by suicide is somehow irrelevant to the current state of affairs then I'm not going to spell it out for you.
And for the record, I think Biden was wrong to pardon his son, although I can understand why he did. I think the pardon powers have been systematically abused by presidents on both sides of the divide down the years, and non more so than Trump. The pardoning of Kushner and subsequent nomination for ambassador to France is disgusting. If he (when) he pardons the Jan 6 rioters who committed crimes during the breaching of the Capitol buildings, then it will be a huge slap in the face for lawmakers and police officers on duty that day.
Look, if Joe Biden really thought Hunter was being unfairly targeted he should have said so last year as it was pretty clear then wasn't it? The facts haven't suddenly changed. The problem of course would have been if he had said that, Republicans would have immediately accused him of "interference" or some such thing. Also if he had said anything, then people would have asked how he could say that when Merrick Garland runs the DOJ, not David Weiss. Of course it was an election year...the whole thing is a mess. I'll buy that the reason the pardon goes back to 2014 and covers anything imaginable is because he is genuinely concerned that Trumps DOJ will go after him when there really is nothing to investigate. Fine. Hunter Biden being Joe's son does not mean Hunter Biden is not a U.S. Citizen, right?
I'll accept that Joe Biden never lied when he said he would let the process play out. He didn't lie he meant it. I'll accept that his position was not an election stunt to differentiate himself from the ever-lawless Donald Trump.
So, the aging Joe Biden, not in the best of health, is in Nantucket with his whole family. It's Thanksgiving, and he is aware that it might be his last. After dinner, as the rest of the family goes for a brisk walk on the beach he's sitting alone in front of the fire, making pictures in the flames and going over the day, his life, his family...he thinks about Beau. It hurts like hell. Jill appears, kneels next to him and brings up Hunter, his remaining son. What are we going to do about him, he's never been like Beau, it's always been a struggle.
Right then and there, Joe makes his mind up. Truthfully he's been thinking about it since the election when reality slapped him in the face. Only now though, he's decided to act.
Fine. Fair enough. It's called the prerogative of mercy for a reason and Hunter is
more than his son, he is a U.S. Citizen, with all rights appurtenant.
I'm surprised Hunter has made it this far. The public outing of his behavior has disgusted me no-end. People have 100% enjoyed the cruelty, if cruelty is the right word. The fact he hasn't attempted suicide says a lot about him, more than his descent in self-destructive behavior imo.
As for Charles Kushner, well he served his time and he appears to have engaged in some good works since then, but even so I think it's pretty disgusting to nominate him Ambassador to France.
