US Politics Thread

I can understand why Biden pardoned his son. He's put family over everything else. Hunter will become a revenge target for President Mango Shitgibbon.

If Harris had won I doubt he'd have done it.
I can’t get my head around a justice system that allows him do it.
This validates anything Trump comes up with. It really is crazy that the Judiciary is not separate to the political system.
If it’s wrong for one side it’s wrong for both.
If it’s not wrong for either then the system that allows it is wrong in my eyes.

Never thought about it that way. You're right. The Pardon system, as this proves can be politically motivated by whoever is in power.

He's protecting his son.

Easier to be murdered in prison by a Trump goon than being freed.
To hell with his crimes then. It’s justified then got it. I guess it’s just like that twat on the Bucks County Commission then.

Also like big city mayors giving it the big un on how they are going to protect illegal aliens even criminals and ones that already have deportation orders against them. And they wonder why they lost and they wonder why Trump got 46% on the Hispanic vote and win a county I. Texas a Republican hasn’t won in yonks.

Keep it up but they hit the other side with invective.

It's not been used in such ways in living memory, pre trump. We have a Trump cult in power who have zero shame. Hypocrisy is rife with the current GOP. They will pull every leaver in their favour and squeal like pigs when the dems do anything.

So yes this is a bad move by Biden, but Trump has done worse in his first term, see Manafort, Stone, Flynn etc . And he will do worse this term.

So why should Biden cling to the last remaining scraps of credibility of potus pardon powers.

and Charles Kushner, father of Trump's son-in-law, who has quite a record.
Not like family-related pardons are entirely new.

Trump doesn’t need anything to validate his actions. This just gives him a real reason rather than him having to make something up. End result is the same.

What a surprise, Biden is just another self serving politician ****
Whilst I disagree with the pardon, Hunter Biden was treated unfairly. In a bid to remain neutral, the Biden DoJ allowed itself to be bullied by Republicans into prosecuting someone for crimes that are very rarely prosecuted.

Ultimately, this pardon will harm Democrats, as any high ground they held will be eroded away, and it also opens the door for Republicans to pardon anyone they like for whatever bullshit reason.
