US Politics Thread

From 'Jan 6th' to Alex Jones (which has nothing to do with 'US Politics' and should have its own thread) there's been a palpable drift off in this place.

I don't care if people don't like my posting style, I'm more bothered if the content I post make them think, at some point.

Let's hope that's the case here...

Superb, well done Biden and co

The United States Senate has approved a sweeping package that supporters say will slash climate heating carbon emissions, lower drug prices for the elderly and demand higher taxes from corporations and the wealthy.

The legislation is less ambitious than President Joe Biden's original domestic goals, but still a major victory that Democrats hope will boost their chances of clinging on to their slim House and Senate majorities in November's mid-term elections.

"The Senate is making history," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, after pumping his fists in the air as Democrats cheered and their staff celebrated the vote with a standing ovation.

"To Americans who've lost faith that Congress can do big things, this bill is for you," he said. "This bill is going to change America for decades."

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) encapsulates party ideals of tackling global heating, slashing prescription drug costs and taxing big corporations - with almost $400 billion of the total funds earmarked for climate and energy measures.

Just the same though isn't it?

Democrats are pro big corporate america and big pharma. Fuck incrementalisation.

Anybody mentioned pizzagate and Hunter Biden's laptop?

:)

We can debate whether Milley is a hero for “fighting from within” or a coward for not submitting this. What we can’t debate is which party banner Trump ran under, which is why both parties will never be “the same” until each and every one of his cult member sycophants is politically laid to waste.

Fucking hell the DeShaun Watson ruling came out today and it literally could not have been worse.

Suspended for 6 games for 30 counts of sexual assault and rape.

I don't know if this is technically US Politics, but we don't really have an NFL thread and I suspect this is going to get pretty political.
We need an NFL or American Sports thread :)

Shitgibbon claiming Mar-A-Lago is being raided by the FBI.
I love that word, really does epitomise the person.

However, they apparently broke into his safe. Does that count if you’ve got a search warrant?

Seems that the FBI have just cause for criminality, wonder what their case is?

Just think about it, the FBI raiding the former President?
I can only assume they are going to go for it now. They would not do this if they genuinely needed evidence to proceed, they must have enough evidence and they are just looking for tghe final nails. Suggests to me that maybe a big name has flipped.

However even with all the above it will still be very difficult. Trump has always run his operations like a criminal with the bare minimum of paper trail and always a fall guy to shield him. Expect everyone to go under the bus before he gets sent down.

He shipped classified documents to Mar-A-Lago when he got tossed out of the WH, some of them possibly compartmentalized.

Either way, Presidential documents do not belong to the person, they belong to the country, so they’re shipped to the National Archives, not your safe at home!
