US Politics Thread

Her record on voting shows she was pretty much in lock step with the Don, but she seems to have found her breaking point with what happened on Jan 6.

I'm not sure there is anything she can say at this point that will convince the cult to change their opinion though.
In my opinion, voting records rarely reflect a politicians actual views. Vote according to party lines or else political career is a short one-way dead end street.
US or UK

Funny that Mango Shitgibbon might be being investigated under the espionage act that some GOP have become holier than thou demanding it's scrapped to protect Assange!

Butigieg would be a great shout. He's articulate, calm, well informed and compassionate and seems to have a firm grasp on reality; all fine attributes for any aspiring presidential candidate. However, the sad fact of the matter is that I'm not quite sure the USA is ready to elect an openly gay president considering the amount of people who were more than a bit tentative about the idea of electing a woman POTUS in 2016.
I know. Sad, isn’t it?!

Speaks volumes about where America is today, and the traits and attitudes of a large swath of American voters.

The question, though, is really which potential Democratic voters (middle ground moderates, plus Dems) are quite comfortable with him, as a highly educated Veteran who is both well spoken and well versed on the issues? It’s the 45-10-45 issue, as usual! Which candidate is going to grab the most voters in that 10% midrange? That’s where De Santis is focusing his “Family First” campaign, even though he feels like a scary Manchurian Candidate of his own!

The funny thing is that IF Buttigieg was a closeted gay (Lindsey Graham?) and spoke a little more conservatively, he’d be a star to Conservatives!! That’s how batshit crazy politics in America has become!

A real President

US President Joe Biden has signed a $700bn (£579bn) bill that aims to fight climate change and healthcare costs while raising taxes mainly on the rich.
The act includes measures to make good on decades of congressional promises to curb the price of prescription drugs.
The final version is more modest in scope than the $3.5tn package first envisaged by Democrats.
A flagship of Mr Biden's agenda, the bill could provide a boost ahead of the mid-term elections.

In the US, when you agree to plead guilty and agree to cooperate in an investigation in exchange for leniency, you FORFEIT that leniency and get nailed for everything IF you do not FULLY COOPERATE. In short, if he withholds anything, he’s nailed!

However, he’s obviously a smart man who hitched his wagon to a crooked company for decades, so he knows which side his bread is buttered now and, with the detailed financial records they have, it’s virtually impossible to even attempt to play fast and loose with ANY facts!

Did the Trump Org even keep proper records, or was it just a collection of number based on a 'gut feeling'?

Just watching Al Jazeera and they’ve stated that Trump’s moneyman has pleaded guilty to tax fraud and is to turn state evidence against him?

The Chief Financial Officer of The Trump Organization. Personal tax fraud on his part, but as part of his plea, he agrees to testify against TOO in the case coming up in October. TOO allegedly paid the CFO "off the books" which was part of why he underpaid his taxes, so logic dictates somehow that had to be approved by someone at TOO. I wonder who? But no one in the Trump family has been charged -- just the company.
