US Politics Thread

I must admit, that response disappointed me.

He's not "crazy" or a "nut job" but it was ill-thought out in light of all the death and mayhem openly around in the US, right now.
Sorry to disappoint you Bigga. I was using Dax's words to describe the bloke who was arrested when it applies to the whole situation over there
and the selective reporting of it.
For all the faults of our political parties l cannot see any of them encouraging people to demonstrate at night at the homes of the judiciary to attempt to influence them. It is the behaviour of third world countries.
I won't mention the selective reporting in the media, often burying stuff as do many of the posters on here which l think is what you were saying.

That was a powerful hour.

Not sure if I'm half asleep but could have sworn Melly called Pence the president. Did they invoke the 25th amendment temporarily or use it as a threat to get Trump to stand his goons down?
They mean President of the Senate, which is what the VP is when the Senate is in session. Its an oddity but that is the term they use

Could they bar the shitgibbon from ever standing for public office after this ? I’m not sure how it works over there.

They are trying to make the case for criminal charges.

To do that, they need to not only prove that he caused the storming of the capital, but that he planned it. That's where the hearings involving John Eastman and Pence's Chief of Staff are so important. It's also why the Republicans going running to get pardons is so important - it means they knew they were breaking the law.

Cheney says they can prove they were planning this from the first week of December and were working with the Proud Boys for weeks before January 6th.

If they prove that on national TV, then the justice department will have to act, and 65-75% of the country will support prosecuting him.

Trumps connections with the Proud Boys goes back at least to Charlottesville after his 'fine people on both sides' bullshit.

I feel that's where these public hearings will head, along with evidence of certain GOP being involved. The leaders of these hardman fascist groups are singing like canaries to protect themselves.

The committee will leave it up to the American people to decide if their conclusions warrant further action. I suspect the DOJ are gearing up to arrest Trump. It's a case of when, as timing is crucial.

The leader of Proud Boys and four other members have recently been charged with seditious conspiracy which must have their arses twitching a bit as they could be looking at 20 years jail if found guilty. I'm sure they will be singing like the proverbial canaries right now trying to cut themselves a deal.
