Before we jizz all over Joe, Rogan said that "people felt like they could abandon their own ethics and morals and principles just to attack [Trump] and anybody who supports him because he is an existential threat to democracy."

What the hell does this mean? Anti-Trumpers abandoned their principles?

Rogan, for all his faults (like, for example, being a ****) is a keen reader of populist winds. He smells what others do: Trump's base is beginning to slowly wither as his platform is gradually co-opted by others not banned from social media (like DeSantis, and Abbott).
Yeah its not really news that statement, its a **** saying he wont act in **** in this instance. Well what does he want - a badge?

Hence why I said “broken clocks, etc”.

Just like Cassidy Hutchinson, he’s not a hero for doing the bare minimum once, after doing (or helping to do) all manner of fuckery for years.

They’re only doing it now because real consequences to continuing their normal path are beginning to mount.

Rogan is a massive tw@t, but Cassidy Hutchinson not so much. Absolutely she's not a hero, but as outsiders we have no idea the pressures she was under to protect the dear leader at all costs.

I'm not sure it is widely known in the UK but a lot of the people closely linked to the Trump white house are or were having Trump appointed lawyers represent them, paid for by Stop the Steal or other Trump connected sources, so it stands to reason they'd want to be saying and doing the 'right' things to ensure continued 'free' legal cover. Whilst this isn't strictly illegal it is certainly unethical and a HUGE conflict of interest.

It's important to note that in this case Hutchinson only agreed to testify live to the Jan 6 committee after she switched lawyers.

She’s still a raving MAGA loon.

I always appreciate your thoughtful, nuanced approach to discussions…

But she was not only fine with but eager to work for the Trump admin, starting halfway in to his term when Meadows became his fourth chief-of-staff, and she was originally meant to transition to working for Trump after he left office (that was apparently cancelled for unknown reasons).

As @SWP's back said, she is a MAGA loon that just happens to be young (less entwined in the political apparatus and more fearful for the rest of her life after this) enough to convince to turn.

Most—if not all—of those flipping now (and in the future) are doing so purely for self-preservation as the hounds grow ever closer.

Oh I agree; she is a staunch republican who wholly bought in to the MAGA brand, but then the whole of the GOP sold its soul to Trump. If they thought they could get away with it every single one of them would have obfuscated until this all went away, but as you said, she saw the writing on the wall and flipped into self preservation mode.
