As it was in London some two plus centuries ago, it is now, too, in my America:
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair."
Democracy has prevailed in the midterms and fascism has been rejected - it is the best of times.
Yet hate-filled, conspiracy-driven emotion dominates the thought processes of roughly half of America - it is the worst of times.
And so, as I reflect back on the midterm election results, I cannot help but think that the glass is half full. Matters might have transpired differently - for much, much the better - but equally, for far, far worse.
