US Politics Thread

Just read this after posting. We’re agreed on Bandon Dunes. Supposed to be there on a boys trip in July, but can’t see it happening. Will be my 4th visit. Have 8 lads travelling from Australia, Uk, Kazakhstan, Canada and Houston.
So I have been I think 15 years in the 21 since it opened! But it’s only about an eight hour drive or a 75 minute flight so a long weekend trip is doable, especially this time of year — get a nice spell of weather and we can make last minute arrangements in the off season. I was there the first year it opened (100 bucks for 36 holes and I think like 80 bucks a night at the lodge!) and fell in love and have made it back nearly every season. Missed last year sadly. We sometimes do a Ryder Cup thing (US vs Europe) with 12-16 guys and I am the Euro captain thanks to my footy obsession. It is a very very special place. A number of the caddies have become friends of mine. Wonderful people and outstanding golf.

All of this chatter the FBI is warning us about is starting to sound more serious. It looks like they're going to start shooting.

Interviews with 3 cops fighting back the baying mob insurrectionists doesn’t make pretty reading

Take aways:
15000 against a few hundred law enforcement.
It was clearly premeditated.
The insurrectionists fully believed they were in the right, that law (and military) would support them, that they would remove democracy and Trump would continue for a 2nd term.
That there would be no consequences on them.

Yeah, what’s the feeling like on the ground over there with normal people? Seems a bit precarious for the next few days when looked upon from afar.

People talk about these threads being echo chambers but fuck me, how divorced from reality to you have to be to believe that.

It appears that electing football coaches as senators has consequences.
Tuberville (Alabama) thinks the inauguration and swearing in should be put off due to the pandemic.

Just totting up some rough figures, but if the Biden stimulus passes on top of the other packages then the US will have passed a shade under $5 trillion in aid in less than a year. That is serious wedge.

US Chamber of Commerce have welcomed the Biden stimulus so it has strong backing.

Nah. There were less than a hundred. @FCBarca says so.
