US Politics Thread

We did Denver to San Antonio and back via Austin and Dallas /FW in under two weeks, so we can motor. We drove from Santa Fe to San Antonio in one trip, taking turns. It was about 15 hours. Absolutely loved that trip. Great day. Got to experience rural Texas in the fall.

I think we’d want to start and finish in Seattle. We could allocate nine, possibly ten days outside Washington State, though.
Willamette Valley for wine tasting. Best Pinot Noirs in America IMO. Lake country outside Bend. Portland is I think a nicer city than Seattle. Crater Lake towards the south of Oregon is spectacular. The Oregon coast is close to as beautiful as the California coast between LA and SF with about 20% of the people. Fishing, whitewater rafting, hiking, golf (Bandon Dunes — best golf complex in America by far). Oregon is fantastic. And for us Yanks — no sales tax on anything.

Ok. Thanks mate.

Did the Big Sur (including Hearst Castle) on my honeymoon in November 2008. Loved it. Do you think anything beyond Seattle, Oregon and Idaho in a fortnight is asking too much?

I'm an East Coast boy living in Texas so the Pacific Northwest isn't my specialty but I spent about a week in Oregon last year. Bend, OR sounds like it's right up your alley if you like drinking and the outdoors. It's about 90 - 120 mins to Crater Lake Park which is stunning. Portland is definitely worth a visit as well and the Oregon coast has some great spots, Cannon Beach I really enjoyed in particular.
Cheers mate.

Just seen a video on FB of a high school teacher telling her class that the capitol insurrection was all Antifa and they were paid to do it.. the videoer pushes back with actual facts, but she’s having none of it.

echo chamber teachers:-(

They'll never accept the truth, this nonsense is here forever.

I’d say you can see a lot in two weeks in those three places. Were it me, I’d skip Idaho and do southern British Columbia instead. But you may have been already, or want to hang out with @idahoblues for some bizarre reason :). Actually I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Idaho and while I like BC more Idaho is very beautiful in the mountains.

Went to Vancouver (and BC more generally) in 1999; was seeing a girl who was working over there. We also visited SF on that trip (not my only time!)

Thanks for putting your teeth in that time we met.

We both really fancy Seattle, but any other suggestions you can think of in Oregon, or maybe even Montana or Wyoming (might be pushing it in a fortnight) would be really welcome :-)

We’re both big drinkers. That will feature heavily. I’m going to cut back drastically this year, for various reasons, but I’ll have a blow out on that trip.
Do you play golf? If so, Bandon Dunes resort in Oregon (Near North Bend) is incredible. 5 courses, 4 of which are in the top 20 in the USA and the 5th is brand new and they reckon better than the other 4!?

Portland was a decent night out with some good bars.

Sandpoint / lake Pend Oreille on the border of Idaho/Montana is pretty special if you want some scenery.

Just read this after posting. We’re agreed on Bandon Dunes. Supposed to be there on a boys trip in July, but can’t see it happening. Will be my 4th visit. Have 8 lads travelling from Australia, Uk, Kazakhstan, Canada and Houston.

I don’t mate, but thanks for the suggestion and the other pointers too.
