US Politics Thread

Fucking hell the DeShaun Watson ruling came out today and it literally could not have been worse.

Suspended for 6 games for 30 counts of sexual assault and rape.

I don't know if this is technically US Politics, but we don't really have an NFL thread and I suspect this is going to get pretty political.

I watched him testify yesterday in court on the live stream.

He is fuked. Hes lost his trial and the judge warned him about lying at the end. In her words 'you have lied twice today under oath'

The detail of that is he was warned not to say he is bankrupt, he isn't. But he said it anyway. Blatantly lying even after being given advanced warning of specific lies he should not say is not going to go down well.

They should stick him in jail then for lying under oath.

This could happen. The judge clearly has his number. Talks to him like a child as he behaves like a child. She said yesterday, "just because you say something you believe does not make it true'.

A perjury charge might be incoming but they are waiting to get through the trial. Its nearly done. Jones refused to engage with the pre trial process so has been unable to present any serious defence. His testimony is all he can do and its possibly done more harm than good.
