He missed the morning session because he was on air on infowars - during the broadcast he dissed the Sandy Hook parents again the ****.

The judge told him to stop lying - telling the jury he has filed for bankruptcy is NOT the same as being bankrupt despite what he told the jury. Then she said he had lied about there being no records of his old texts and e-mail as his lawyers had - in error - sent the parents lawyers copies of several years past e-mails and texts as part of their disclosure material. I suspect that once this is over then he will face perjury charges because win or lose he still lied under oath.

He was then asked to read out some of those texts in court - oddly enough his bad throat re-emerged at that stage and he was coughing. Posted on it earlier here -

He is using the court case to grift, constructing a narrative that it was fixed against him.

Seems like he knows that the case is a no hoper and trying to turn into another cash cow.

Good that he is being held to account for awful lies, the worst kind. About murdered children. These peoples MO is to propagate lies and hide behind a need to challenge 'mainstream media' as a catch all. This is to undermine journalism, research, facts, analysis. In the absence of those elements, you can say anything you fucking like and hope to appeal to people who have existing ignorance issues. Great that this has been challenged and I hope he is both humiliated and taken to the cleaners. Sadly neither of those things will happen. I saw him earlier outside the court bemoaning the media, a bent judiciary, blah blah. America is a fucking awful place filled with total lunatics. Danger is it extends over here. Farage case in point

You see you don't understand him - today he accepts he was 100% wrong and they ( the mainstream media ) won't let him take it back - as ever with these shits its always try to blame someone else for their self inflicted woes

So it is still another grift then.

Especially since I've met the parents. It's 100% real," he said. "They [the media] won't let me take it back."

I retract here some of the content about "nothing's changed."

Ruppert Murdoch has indeed withdrawn support from Trump, as much as it's possible to do so without losing audience. And this extends to Fox News (I was relying on outdated media articles when I posted that Murdoch seemed to be biding his time with respect to supporting Trump or not - mea culpa).

So - as a result of the 1/6 hearings - Murdoch has decided to drop outright support of Trump, at least for the time being. That's a change.

And one might point to the recent result in Kansas - where a proposal to constitutionally ban abortion lost the popular vote by a wide margin.

And yet...

There's no absolute rejection of Trump among Republicans - indeed he remains very much in contention. Those Republicans less supportive of Trump now seem to endorse DeSantis - a much more politically savvy far right Republican. Frankly, I'd rather that Biden face Trump than DeSantis.

Further - it's telling as to why Republicans formerly in support of Trump have now switched loyalty to DeSantis. It's not because the election wasn't stolen. Or that Trump did anything wrong. It's because Trump is too polarizing! Let that sink in. Republicans writ large think that Trump did nothing wrong and that the election was stolen (yes, there are exceptions).

Another change - betting odds have shifted according to some outlets - DeSantis is now slightly ahead of Trump:

So - what's changed as the result of the 1/6 hearings? Murdoch has dumped Trump for a more electable candidate who is much more politically savvy than Trump and bettors now narrowly think that this candidate - DeSantis - will be our next President.

Other than that, wrt 1/6 - what else has changed? Perhaps Trump is now more likely to face prosecution.

As for the impact of the radical Supreme Court rulings - especially the overturn of RvW - there's indication that this will play a possibly important role in deciding which party controls the Senate following the midterm elections:

If left to popular vote, 1 man, 1 vote, there's no chance in hell that a Republican in the ilk of Trump/DeSantis would win election. It's remarkable how screwed up the American electoral system is that candidates such as Trump are elected, and that it's nearly impossible to pass overwhelmingly popular legislation on topics such as gun control.

Just wondering...

What do you think about the following political tactic: during primaries, where your political opponent is decided, donate money to a candidate in the opposite party whom you feel is so outlandish/extreme that he or she cannot possibly win election.

My take - this is foul play.

A partial solution - open up primaries. Everyone can vote. Even members of the opposite party.

Your thoughts?

Please Daddy make the nasty man stop......

You have to respect the grift from Jones there, the way he switches to "you have them, I can't have withheld them" is amazing.

January 6th committee his drawing up a subpoena for the Sandy Hook lawyers to hand over the contents of the phone.

The important context here is that Jones and his lawyer have been repeatedly claiming that a $2m would bankrupt them entirely, end infowars and leave him ruined.
And now there's a solid case for a $200m + judgement - fucking delicious!

As an aside - WTF! How incompetent can a law firm be to have texted the entire content of a defendant's phone records to the claimant's attorney?

It's worse that the opposition lawyers asked them to confirm that it was intended and wasn't privileged. Someone's getting fired.

There is a back story here with MAGA world lawyers.

There are a huge number of people in the Trump world orbit getting sued - massive costs being paid out. Trump and the Republican party are trying to keep a handle on all of it. They want to know what evidence is in circulation and who might have criminal exposure and could be flipped. So the lawyers are selected on the basis they are on side with the party. But its increasingly difficult to get decent lawyers who will agree to essentially have an eye on the bigger picture and report in to trump / party HQ possibly at the detriment to their clients. Many have walked away due to the lack of fees but also to distance themselves from the shit show.
