Judges should not be political appointees, cannot get my head around how that can ever be a 'thing'
 
I'm not entirely clear on the details but it seems:
  • Trump is suing Cohen for some reason
  • the judge has essentially stated that Trump must appear in court in short order
  • If he appears, it opens up some information that was blocked due to Trump being President when it would otherwise have been made public.
  • The alternative seems to be that Trump has to withdraw the case/have it dismissed.
