THE UNITARY EXECUTIVE THEORY
A battle is going on between the courts and Trump’s Executive. In case after case where those affected by Executive Orders or the actions of Doge, are suing the Executive, the courts are ruling against the administration, saying the Executive and the courts are co-equal parts of governance and that the Executive cannot overrule precedents, statutes, and constitutional provisions. The Executive maintain that they possess the power to do almost whatever they wish. They particularly claim that they can defy court orders because the courts have no power to direct the Executive. Trump’s men are following a theory called The Unitary Executive theory, a right wing idea that has been around for many years but until now has made little headway. If adopted, the tripartite nature of American governance is dead and the president is king. Trump’s strategy is to get one of these cases in front of SCOTUS, hoping that court will rule in his favour.
SCOTUS will have a huge decision to make. I hope for a 5-4 decision against the Unitary theory. If Trump wins, he is king bolstered by his previously won immunity. God help America.
There will be some huge court cases no doubt.

You wonder what conversations have gone on already around what issues might make it to scotus and what they might do. I think there is a limit to how far you can push them. They are federalist whacky Christians. They are not hardcore maga.

And I guess a lot depends on the mood music at the time. Trump has a bonfire of his political capital going. Americans don't like losing money and, unlike us, managing their own pensions is a national hobby. They will all be watching the stock market closely and its becoming a battle of will between trump and the markets.

I was thinking as I read the options of that that this will go to SCOTUS to rule whether Trump is Emperor.

I don't think that SCOTUS will vote for Trump when it comes to that point.

Not only me effected.
Do you remember Birmingham.
Manchester ?
The attacks in that era were largely carried out by British citizens. You wouldn't hold them against an uninvolved Brit so why hold them against Americans? There were maybe a couple thousand crackpots who actually supported Noraid in a country of 300m+.

+1
Self-interest alone suggests that the courts won't back this no matter how much some in SCOTUS are in bed with MAGA.

how old are you 6
thank fuck for ignore

Could be the shortest court pitch yet.

"Dear Chief Justice Roberts
Do you want to be the head of the court that destroys the Republic's concept of equal powers, and converts to an empire?
Yours,
etc."
Roberts will be on the side of separation of powers. Barrett is the key.

A British comic artist has spent almost a fortnight locked in an immigration detention facility in the United States after a "visa mix-up" during a backpacking trip.

Rebecca Burke, 28, is "isolated and desperate" according to her parents, who said they had been "living in a nightmare" since their daughter was stopped at the US border with Canada on February 26. She was placed in handcuffs and transferred to a holding centre.

Relatives are concerned that the graphic artist has been caught up in the immigration crackdown begun by President Trump.

Burke, from Portskewett, Monmouthshire, started a four-month trip on January 7, spending time in New York and Seattle before attempting to enter Canada.

During a segment of her trip in the US, she stayed with a host family who provided food and accommodation in return for her doing basic household tasks.

She was planning to stay with a family in Vancouver under a similar arrangement, organised through the website Workaway, a forum for "cultural exchanges".
British cartoonist R.E. (Becky) Burke was on a four month backpacking trip around North America but has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her father, Paul Burke posted an appeal for help on Facebook. Burke attempted to cross over into Canada from the US on February 26th, but was denied because of a visa issue, and after returning to the US was arrested as an "illegal alien" and is now in detention in Tacoma.

Burke is known in the comics community, setting up at Thought Bubble, writing for Broken Frontier and making some pretty good comics. Her Instagram is as typical and normal as a cartoonists IG can be, including some now devastating photos of the earlier carefree good times on her trip. Her last post was about the joys of travel.

Depressing reading :-(

This was 6 years ago.
Rubio did follow up apologising and explaining what happened to cause the error from his point of view.
I know, but this is the calibre of the people Trump has given these lofty positions to. Rubio made a dumb mistake which his staff had to come up with excuses for. This is the guy that has to go out and negotiate with foreign leaders on behalf the USA and he has ZERO credibility.
