Why do you think that is unlikely?
Why do you ask, why do I think it's unlikely?

At any rate - I'll answer your query succinctly: Occam's Razor.
Expounding...

If the guy was bent, the free press (especially) and the US government (at least under Biden) would have uncovered the fact - and there would be a bunch of headline news articles about this.

I ask because I think that anyone who doesn’t think he’s on the take from Russia is hopelessly naive.

And I think that your bar for reaching conclusions is far lower than mine, especially if the conclusion fits a preconceived narrative.

Witkoff's world views are far right. And he's incompetent. And he enjoys the limelight. Those factors alone would lead him to act as he does. On top of all of this - is he "bent"? Maybe - there's no hard evidence that I'm aware of. So I remain skeptical of - but open to - claims that he's bent.

She should be in disbelief. Legal opinions are the foundations of the law.
I'd feel this way too if I were he, since I'd have gotten away with literally everything I've ever done without any negative consequences.

Also, she shouldn't be in disbelief at all. It's exactly what anyone who's paid any attention to Trump would expect him to think, and expect his SG to say.

Sounds like there's been an interesting performance from the Solicitor General in front of SCOTUS.

A mistake on Trump's part. He probably looked at rhe number of times Boden ignored the Supreme Court's decisions and thought... Hmmm I did not know we could roll like that.

In Biden's defense he had ab excuse he never remembered any of SC rulings... Trump unfortunately doesn't have that excuse...

Too bad, we should have voted for our own version of Biden...

Oh well!!!

Anyway, i see there is no interest in the Biden mental decline 'cover up' Typical!!!

I see lots of Democratic operatives acting as journalists are now writing books pretending they didn't know. Lol

Hope you all buy their books and make them some money.

I don’t mind people like yourself voting for Trump as I believe everybody should have a choice. What I do mind is you hiding in the shadows and then jumping in to wind people up.

Not only does it wind people up, it also demeans your own opinions.

The arrogance... Like anyone cares whether you think i should have a choice. For the record, i don't give a damn what you do or don't mind.

I post about what interest me when it interests me and where its relevant.

Winding people up? Pointing out the hypocrisy of having little interest in the political scandal of the last 4 years in NOT winding people up. But i am not surprised you sre uninterested.

And for the record, I'm not hiding in the shadows. I am just uninterested in discussing wholly irrelevant crap.

If you feel wound up. You are the problem. Anyway, I'm bored already.

You should post more ;-)

Come on, man, stand-up for yourself.

Nah! I come here to read Password Required's posts mainly. And then any responses to it. I don't enjoy the exchanges here and i had began to respond in a hostile manner to all and sundry. Some obviously deserving of that hostility and more.

Player performance, transfer forum and game day thread are just far far more enjoyable. Even disagreements there are much more enjoyable.

I am a sucker for enjoyable discussions it turns out. :)

"Not hiding in the shadows" says the man who toggles the "show current activity" switch to OFF when he browses the political forums.

"I am just uninterested in discussing wholly irrelevant crap" says the man who couldn't shut up pre-election and -- now that Trump has proved himself even worse than the rest of said he would be -- rarely posts any more.

"For the record", I think lying and cowardice are bad things, and "I don't give a damn" if you think otherwise.

Hopefully your credibility with human beings in the real world is better than that in this virtual one. Somehow I doubt it.

And about this post: "If you feel wound up, you are the problem."

Ill be on the Nunes thread then off to the Pep thread then a spin over to the transfer forum to fantasize about my dream team...

Feel free to check in :)

Aw, leave him be, he’s just a poor deluded Maga cult member.

Dax revels in wind up. And he's impossible to reason with.

The best solution is to put Dax on ignore - or if for whatever reason you want to engage with a windup... well, you've little cause for complaint.

The downside to "ignore" - and it's a big one - is that you won't be able to see threads started by ignored posters - regardless of your interest in the topic.

Dax is a liar and a coward, not a troll nor a wind-up merchant.

MEXICO CITY — Key pillars of the Trump administration’s policy toward Mexico involve large-scale deportations and a crackdown on cartels.

But reports in the Mexican media suggest that U.S. authorities recently orchestrated the secret, cross-border move of at least 17 relatives of Mexico’s most notorious drug kingpin — Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán [In U.S. custody], co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel — to California.

On Wednesday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, clearly frustrated, said U.S. authorities had failed to notify their Mexican counterparts of what appeared to be a highly choreographed operation by Washington to transport the drug lord’s extended family across the border from Tijuana to San Diego.

“We are doing our work” to fight drug trafficking, Sheinbaum said. “The issue is: What information is out there and how do they [U.S. officials] explain this? They have to give information.”

*snip*

The current whereabouts of the El Chapo relatives could not be determined. It was unclear whether they were under some form of protective custody.

In Mexico, security experts say, El Chapo’s relatives could be vulnerable to the violence associated with a civil war raging within the Sinaloa cartel.

*snip*

The Justice Department has not explained why Mexico apparently was not notified of the operation to move El Chapo’s extended family across the border. It is unclear whether the decision was an oversight or a deliberate omission out of fear that news of the move would be leaked to criminal elements in Mexico.

This is Mexico - from earlier in the article:

Guzmán López was initially arrested in a 2019 military raid that sparked gun battles paralyzing the city of Culiacán, prompting then-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to order him freed in a bid to end the violence. He was rearrested in 2023 in a second bloody operation that left at least 29 dead, including 10 Mexican soldiers.

Back on track -

The case against Guzmán López is part of a wide-ranging U.S. effort to take down the Sinaloa gang, which is considered Mexico’s most extensive criminal organization. The Sinaloa cartel is one of six in Mexico that the Trump administration has designated as foreign terrorist organizations.

*snip*

There has been widespread speculation in the Mexican press that the two jailed brothers may seek a plea deal and possibly agree to testify against Ismael Zambada García [who is now in U.S. custody], a co-founder, with El Chapo [who is in U.S. custody], of the notorious Sinaloa cartel.

Zambada has said he was kidnapped by Joaquín Guzmán López in the summer and flown into the custody of U.S. agents outside El Paso. Mexican authorities say they too were blindsided by that sensational operation, which Mexican authorities say was probably orchestrated by U.S. agents. Zambada is reportedly in plea negotiations with U.S. authorities to avoid a potential death penalty.

His arrest has sparked a bloody turf war splitting the Sinaloa cartel. Backers of Zambada are fighting supporters of El Chapo’s sons, known as Los Chapitos, for control of the notorious organization. Two of El Chapo’s other sons are both fugitives who have remained in Mexico and avoided arrest while assuming their father’s legacy of running the cartel, authorities say.
