and Dems shot in their homes - its the fault of those damn Liberals

The post says, in part:

"...after getting into the argument she came to cause, she decided to go for her gun. These people are unhinged!"

I'd say the whole point was to go for her gun, i.e. before she got there, when she walked out of her house open-carrying...heck, when she was in her house strapping on her holster she knew what she was all about. And I disagree with characterizing this behavior as "unhinged." Unhinged is me going to Fenway wearing a Yankees cap. This shit is terroristic.

Mat Ollig, the couple's nephew, revealed Yvette's courageous act in a Facebook post following the shooting, calling the suspect a 'vile piece of sh**.'

'Early this morning, an absolute vile piece of sh** dressed as a cop broke into my aunt and uncle’s house and shot him 6 and my aunt 5 times in a political act of terrorism,' Ollig wrote.

'My aunt threw herself on her daughter, using her body as a shield to save her life.'

The whole country is bonkers. It not only being legal to own a gun, but being allowed to openly carry it in public like that.

You can’t help but feel there is a world of pain coming to America.

This regime are very transparently inciting people to do this sort of thing. They want the conflict to start at these peaceful protests.
Only a matter of time until people are mowed down by gun or by car.

I watched this just because I like documentaries. The subject matter is inflammatory for many I know, but the casual way that people referred to their guns or even showed him their weapons took me aback. But the absolute worship and total commitment to Trumpism that he encountered along the way shows how we have to accept that he has the backing of these fucking idiots, in swathes. Id urge everyone to give it a watch, its unbelievable reality

Glad she was tackled to the ground before she started popping rounds off. Had she actually shot and killed someone we could have been into another Kyle Rittenhouse type situation

As usual, I look to Fox News to gauge how MAGA/Republicans react to recent news - in this case the assassination of Minnesotan Democrat Melissa Horman and her husband and the attempted assassination of Democratic State Senator John Hoffman and his wife by Vance Boelter.

And so I read this article and some of the comments:

In such circumstances one would expect outrage against the killer and a demand for justice. Instead I found conspiracy theory bullshit - the opening comment wondered why Boelter was charged only with 2nd degree instead of 1st degree murder - immediately, there's a reply that it's because the "Dems are protecting their own" - meaning that Boelter is, in fact, a Democrat, and that the reason Horman and Hoffman were targeted is because they stepped out of line recently with Democratic policies and that the attacks were meant to send a message to other Democrats... for fuck's sake!

Other posts blame Walz, the Democratic governor of Minnesota, for not toning down the level of acrimony in political discourse!

Another poster, referring to the assassin Boelter... "He worked for Tim Walz, hired in 2019. Why arent[sic] dems talking about that?"

Fox News posters are going to be mostly far right MAGA - so I suppose the above isn't unexpected. In other words, everything is viewed through a political lens - and it's always the fault of the other party no matter what.

Still... I hoped that these assassinations/attempted assassinations would have been met with much more outrage.

America is in bad shape - there's a large chunk of the country who are drunk on MAGA Kool aide - and because of this - election outcomes are going to be close no matter what - and when MAGA is elected, extremely poor governance will ensue.

I think when you have had months of people wandering around faces covered wearing TEMU sourced tactical gear and refusing to ID themselves as ICE then the idea that a fake cop did the shootings should be no surprise.

However going forward I wouldn't want to be in any sort of uniform for the rest of Trumps term as these events are now putting targets on their back in a country awash with guns - sadly there will be more deaths

Trump will pardon anyone convicted, surely?

Got him

The irony in this post is epic. Lol

Unbelievable a US Senator posting this.

"based"

Fucking hell. ha ha ha

Based is used approvingly to describe someone who projects a lack of concern about how others feel about their actions or opinions. It can also describe a thing, such as an action or event, perceived as both bold and commendable, especially if it challenges or flouts convention in some way.

...term was later taken up ironically in online circles by the alt-right...

...this pseudo-title became a commonly-applied ironic honorific for conservatives online. “Based” was particularly popular in the far-right spaces of Reddit, 4chan, Twitter and Discord...

Based has been appropriated by the alt-right online as a general term of praise, as if “un-woke.”

The re-invented based, as a signal of power and swagger, was picked up by the alt-right/white nationalist community online in the 2010s.

...referring to alt-right or right-wing conservative figures as based has become a sign of approval in online social-media forums like the pro-Trump subreddit, r/The_Donald.

On the other side of the spectrum, alt-right, white nationalist, and other Trump supporters online have, incongruously, adopted based for their own purposes. They routinely post on forums like Reddit with headlines describing someone whose actions they approve of as based (e.g. “Based Boris Johnson refuses to apologize for saying women in burkas look like letterboxes.”).

I forgot to post this yesterday.

Detachment 201.

Four senior executives of tech giants like Meta and Palantir are being sworn into the Army Reserve as direct-commissioned officers at the unusually high rank of lieutenant colonel as part of a new program to recruit private-sector experts to speed up tech adoption.

The Army calls the program to recruit Silicon Valley executives Detachment 201: The Army’s Executive Innovation Corps. One of the executives, Andrew Bosworth of Meta (formerly Facebook) posted on X that the “201” monicker was a nod to an HTTP coding command, in which a “201” response indicates the creation of a new programming resource.

The Reserve’s new lieutenant colonels are Shyam Sankar, chief technology officer for Palantir; Bosworth, chief technology officer of Meta; Kevin Weil, chief product officer of OpenAI; and Bob McGrew, an advisor at Thinking Machines Lab and former chief research officer for OpenAI.

A few articles about this on-line. Interesting development.

Forgot to mention the genesis of this as recounted in a couple of articles.

The idea of incorporating private-sector expertise is right out of Ukraine as soldiers there who are engineers or computer scientists in their day jobs are MacGyvering makeshift drones or 3D printing parts to use on the front lines against Russia.
