US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

Right I've had my half day of sulking about the result. I'm moving on. Hope my fears about the Trump presidency aren't realised.

Going to make sure some good comes out of it with some money going to charitable causes and a re-commitment to my own health and wellbeing. Hi gym, long time no see.

One thing this campaign has done is re awaken my interest in politics. I've been worn down by the mediocrity of our politicians and political parties for decades. Could never join a party, but how does someone become politically active without being part of a party machine?
Nah.
I won’t fall out with anyone in here, but this campaign I found nauseating at times.
Unbelievable in how abnormal behaviour has been normalised and ultimately endorsed by the electorate in the US of A.
But also reflected in the levels of debate in here at times.

I don’t see it as naturally following that ‘We won, so we were right’ .
I’m very apprehensive about what is in store for the world in general next year and have no doubt the incoming American government will play a big part in how things unfold.

Regarding just moving on, well yes, there’s sod all I can or could have done anyway.
So yes I’ll move on, but my opinion of Trump has not changed. He’s a gobshite but he is now the soon to be American president which makes him the biggest and bestest gobshite ever.

Sorry to all our wonderful American contributors in here but I simply would have no desire to enter your Great Again country.
I find nothing of interest to me in it.

Best of luck to you all without exception, however.

Pretty much.

Can you also get Socialist narcissism, or Conservative, like when both Corbyn and Sunak lost? Did either of them introspect or did they blame others?

Looking at the Tories, I’d say they are still blaming others, even if it’s what its factions within their own party. For Corbyn, he was moved on and now isolated from the party, which shows that the party did have a look at itself.

Are the Dem’s more like our Tory party than we think?

I only ask this as I always seen the Dem’s as Labour and Republican as Tory. Think I may have got it completely wrong.
