Ffs obviously. If you think the democrats wheeling out half of Hollywood helped their election or convinced people to vote for them, I don’t know what else to say.
It's the "massive income inequality" stupid!

that governed the election - IMO. Coupled with years and years of pent up anger as a consequence of this- to the extent that reality no longer matters.

Dems - in 1990 on - embraced the globalization of economy with nary a thought (well, the thinking at the time was that as jobs were displaced locally, new jobs would open up as the economy changed) about how this would negatively impact numerous American workers - and are now reaping the consequences.

Maximum global economic efficiency does not translate into maximum nation citizen economic benefit - at all. Adam Smith warned of this. Unfettered globalization is now killing Democracies on a global scale.

What America needs is for Dems to address the root issue - massive income inequality (IMO) - and a means to convey that they are doing so. Might this occur in my lifetime? Maybe.

But I think it will take an economic meltdown along the lines of The Great Depression - for that to occur - alongside a charismatic advocate, able to appeal to Republican voters for massive change, to make their lives better.
Maybe, but Donald Trump didn’t address it. Those who have little already know they have little. What they don’t want is to be looked down on because they have little. Their hope isn’t necessarily economic — it’s feeling better about who they are and the decisions they made to get where they are, individually and America at large. He addressed the perception of attention/importance inequality. Almost nothing to do with income. IMO. It doesn’t mean such a tack won’t work for Democrats of course. But it’s not the one Trump used to win.

I think they should keep calling them stupid racists instead. It seems to have worked well for them so far.

They barely focused on any of the issues that mattered to ordinary people.
You nor I have any data to support that either way.

I can’t help that Trump addressed the perception of a poor economy and runaway immigration problems while Democrats pointed to the data and said those issues aren’t issues. And I can’t help that Democrats pointed at the many disasters during the Trump presidency and his supporters ignored them.

Democrats lost because they relied on facts. Trump won because he lied about them, and people believed him. IMO.

That is one of the root issues. But there are more, I think. Anyway, I have said enough about it :) And it's not my problem.

See you in four years.

For the 37th time — with a red Senate, red House (probably), red Court, a popular vote mandate, new albeit questionable immunity when taking official actions, unfettered by need to be re-elected, left with no moderate advisors to choose from since they all walked from him, there is no one to stop him.

Little confused how this is not getting through. THAT’S the big difference between old Trump and new Trump.
No I get that, I just don't believe him.

Cheers.
The masses aren't going to research in any depth whatsoever the nuances of policy. All they know is that they're, personally, worse off now, than they were 4 years ago. They care not a whit for how great the US economy is - it doesn't matter. What matters - as some have said - is the price of eggs, and how long they now need to work to earn those eggs, as opposed to 8 years hence.

It's worse now for Americans than it was under Trump - and that's why he's won - no matter that Trump is a populist know-nothing and is likely to make things far worse for the average American.

Meanwhile, there's been no clear, expression about income inequality and how that's the problem and how Dems will fix it - no "chicken in every pot." Dems can't possibly win so long as the majority are hurting economically and there's no message about how they'll be made better.

My fear is that even if he does, they’ll believe he didn’t.
