US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

“Democrats lost because they relied on facts. Trump won because he lied about them, and people believed him. IMO.”
Thanks for your faith in democracy,@FogBlueInSanFran. I fear you tell the truth.

You nor I have any data to support that either way.

I can’t help that Trump addressed the perception of a poor economy and runaway immigration problems while Democrats pointed to the data and said those issues are issues. And I can’t help that Democrats pointed at the many disasters during the Trump presidency and his supporters ignored them.

Democrats lost because they relied on facts. Trump won because he lied about them, and people believed him. IMO.
Well it clearly didn’t work. I can go off how I feel when a celebrity tells me to vote or what to think - It makes me think why is this millionaire lecturing me.

You say perception of a poor economy. Millions of Americans feel worse off and their wages have stagnated. They are perfectly legitimate reasons to be fed up. The democrats had no answer to that.
GDP going up by a few points is pretty irrelevant for most people.

The democrats lost because Harris was a terrible choice, the economy for a lot of people isn’t any better, the issues with immigration and plenty of other reasons. If you think they lost because they relied on facts they’ll never win again.

Elon Musk and Twitter.

There was also an "explosion" in trends that have existed before, "but not to this extent", Prof Lichtman said.

"Disinformation - you know, Elon Musk... has been the director of misinformation, two billion views of his spreading of disinformation, not just about the economy but about immigrants, about minorities. We've never seen disinformation at this scale," he said.
Spot on. Twitter was virtually unusable the last two week as it was just spammed to fuck by Elons tweets lying about everything and weird AI pictures of Trump wrestling rhinoceroses

My fear is that even if he does, they’ll believe he didn’t.
+1

It may take a dust-bowl, 1920's era Depression, for Republicans to wake up - and a Roosevelt incarnate to change course, peacefully.

Or, we may actually be headed for decades of woe - comparable perhaps to the dysfunction of Cuba or Argentina.

That you think it’s a lecture is a YOU problem. Back to the “I’m offended because he talked down to me” thing. Look, feel the way you feel, whatever, but I never want to hear “liberals” tarred with the “snowflake” brush again if masses of Trump voters are offended because Alec Baldwin yammered on about global warming or some shit.

Yes, I am already on record as saying they’ll never win again barring an economic disaster of epic proportions.
