This is a misunderstanding of reality. It explains why Trump's base voted for him. But it doesn't explain why independents did.

That's a question worth exploring for those who care to reach some level of understanding outside the obvious.

Well those were the comments from the ex-communications director, all be it briefly, in the previous Trump administration.

Hopefully he can widen his knowledge and develop his understanding outside the obvious.

One day he might be able to debate with someone as knowledgeable as yourself.

are you sure? Johnson was a character and is still getting laughed at for his ineptitude - he got kicked off a TV US GE show last night because of his shameless sales promoting of his own failing book character. Sunak had an eye for a good joke and could present as interested in cricket and as a Saints fan - he managed to get the top job despite being the brown guy with the different religion but it was ducking the D-Day commemorations that was the big red flag then calling a GE when he didn't need to and when the numbers were about to get better for him that showed he lacked the most important thing that you miss. Political acumen. The ability to read Politics and the Political situation - to listen to advisers but not do as they say, weigh up the advice and your options. Without that skill in Politics you are nothing.
That sort of proves his point - Johnson won a GE

My prediction of final battleground vote shares:

State - Harris % - Trump %
Arizona - 49 - 50 (Trump)
Georgia - 50 - 49 (Harris)
Michigan - 50 - 49 (Harris)
Nevada - 49 - 50 (Trump)
North Carolina - 48 - 50 (Trump)
Pennsylvania - 50 - 48 (Harris)
Wisconsin - 50 - 48 (Harris)

Electoral College Outcome:
Democrats - 286
MAGA - 252

Kamala Harris wins the election.

Edit: corrected the EC totals as I was one vote off (270toWin seems to have a bug that causes the sums to not work correctly when you change state affiliations and you have had the page open for awhile, requiring the user to reset the map and set the map to the desired scenario to get the accurate count).
Unfortunately that has not aged well!!!

I'm astounded at the result btw

Fair enough Dax. You stuck to your guns all along.
(Some just kept them handy in case he lost ;-) )

Do you think his policies will improve the American economy and how?
His policies:

Drill!
Reduce regulations on drilling. Goal is to reduce energy cost and by extension the cost of goods.
That's the drill baby drill proposal

Administrative State Reduction:
Repeal many of the Biden era Climate regulations and DEI supported programs that add undue costs to consumers

Border Security:

This is a double edged sword. It might increase workers cost when businesses can't hire cheap labor. But it might also increase American wages.

Tariffs
The use of tariffs doesn't strike me as particularly wise. But if used as a tool to bring other nations to the table, the better.

All together, I think the economy will become better. But unfortunately, most here will simply claim it was the great work of the Biden/Harris coming to fruition.

Articulated brilliantly however it’s easy to slag off Harris campaign after the result - I personally felt she was doing all the right things, positive, hardly any gaffes, smashed Trump in the head to head debate.
If she had focused on the economy progressing and job sector doing well no one would have cared.

Trump won on lies, misinformation and being a WWE figure that ‘owns the libs’, can ‘Make America Great Again’ and is against the ‘Mainstream Media’ all backed by the worlds richest man pumping constant propaganda for Trump on the biggest social media platform. I don’t think a Harris change of philosophy for her campaign would have made any difference .

I sure wish she had been more forceful on blunting his attacks and touting the economic achievements…and where they were going.

Abortion rights certainly had a place, but it was clear WHO Trump was targeting and WHY, yet they did nothing to blunt that grab for votes, and it proved pivotal.

Sadly, it may have taken a policy sink like Bill Clinton or Obama to stand up and riff on the economic improvements and where they were taking the country, but, even more sadly, people who are feeling bad, who then get told they’re right to feel bad because “we all know who did it and I’m going to fix it” will become CHANGE voters, and this was clearly a CHANGE election.

Trump made it one, and Harris was unable to articulate the positive changes that were already in place, coming to fruition, and now Trump will ride those coattails in 2025, which reshaping America from within, all while touting how great he is!

Sickening, nauseating, and foreseeable, but spilled milk now!

And future generations, well fuck em.

This is more or less the process my sister in law went through about 10 years ago. She was carrying a baby girl - they had 2 sons already and wanted a girl - scans showed that it sadly was developing in the womb with virtually no head. The umbilical cord was sustaining the foetus and she was presented with 2 choices. Abort or carry to full term ( or as far as nature would allow) - she chose to abort and I stress she my brother in law did not want to "interfere" with any decision it was her body her choice.

Its not for any elderly middle aged probably white pastey religious man to dictate what she should have done - as father of a daughter that has always been and will remain my views until I die
Thank you for sharing a difficult story.
I have 2 daughters, and a stepdaughter, thankfully in the UK their own decision would be respected in this day and age.

Oh forgot to add that subsequently they had a healthy baby girl
This is why I (and probably your sister in law) don’t ever want to feel shame about my decision. It gave me the family I have today. (Except my third was a son…three boys and the only football/City fan of the bunch!).
