US Presidential Race 2016

What is a presidential election? If 'preside' means authority and 'election' means choice, is it more that people are choosing for a person to be in authority or is it more that people are
choosing someone to represent the beliefs that they give authority to within themselves? Either way, neither candidate seems to present a manifesto of liberation - kind of ironic for a country that calls itself the 'land of the free.'

Just like I would say the economic migrants who enter the UK illegally through Calais aren't the best people either. Just the fact that they are willing to enter a country illegally says everything about their character. There are legal channels to follow for asylum seekers.

He has curtailed his comments on Muslims and his immigration policy is closed borders (sorry Hillary, no one wants your open hemispheric borders) and controlled legal immigration. Was it poorly advised to say "monitor all Muslims entering the country"? Probably, but the guy isn't a career politician who has been trained all his life on when to speak, smile and nod like Hillary has.

laws are made by the establishment... those that do not follow the law (act illegally) must have questionable character...you are choosing to support a character who is 'anti-establisment' (haha)...what then is the nature of your character? not the best?
ps am not saying that you are a 'bad character' just suggesting that the logic of your argument may be somewhat flawed?

You're twisting what I say. I'll break it down so their can be no confusion.

Breaking the law = bad.

Voting democratically and legally for a politican who can change the laws you disagree with = good.

no need to apologise. As for abuse, am glad you mentioned this. I wouldn't lay claim to being a christian - let alone in the way that Trump and/or Clinton may do. But there is a line
in the Bible that I find interesting - 'Blessed are merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.' To flip this over, then maybe it is the same as saying 'If I am abusive towards you, then I will get to feel abused myself.' In this way, I might be able to come out with abusive soundbites that sound 'clever', but if that means i get to feel abused, doesn't that make said soundbite somewhat stupid? By the way, I am not saying that I am great at following this principle - more that I have fallen oven my own stupidity more times than I care to think of - not fun. Beyond this, doesn't it appear that this election has fallen to levels of abuse previously unknown? And if this is what it means to 'love your country and your people'....maybe time to emigrate, no?
