US Tariff War

Had a chat with a republican today, back in Houston after about 6 weeks. He’s not MAGA, but was definitely in the “Trump is what we need” camp 6 weeks ago.

He was definitely ‘rocked’ and wavering today. Hopefully he’s a sign of the greater non MAGA republican populace. Seemed genuinely upset at the feedback from the rest of the world.
Fuck him. Selfish ****.

There is a staggering snippet of info on this piece, reviewing China’s potential semi related woes to the Tariffs.

China consumer confidence is low, due to the collapse of the housing market… which is due to over supply… and not just by a small amount.
In a population of 1.8b, there is an extreme estimate that there is enough spare housing capacity for… 3 billion people.

the number is incomprehensible, so much building to lie around empty.

He was the mouthpiece of a large bond trading outfit who lost people on 9/11 in WTC. It shows you that you don’t have to be smart to make it to the very top of American business…or you have to suppress any smarts you have to toe the bat-shit crazy line of Trump’s whims!

Either way, sad and embarrassing!

Notwithstanding the shennanigins to get where he did at Cantor Fitzgerald, there's no way you can reconcile his past career with the garbage he's coming out with now. The most benign reading is the various traumas he's had in his life have eventually sent him doolally tap but I doubt that's the reason.

These media have a tendency to exaggerate the real estate crisis. Economy is not great, but it's always been like this. Crisis after crisis.

I think it’s the latter CB.

Having read about his history at Cantor Lutnick was very smart, very ruthless and most certainly a shark. He’s toeing the Trump line because he’s calculated he’ll do well out of it. For some reason he’s lost his humanity along the way it would seem.

Not just in China itself either. There's a garden city in Malaysia just North of Singapore that is almost completely abandoned after the credit for it dried up and they struggled to find buyers for the property. It was aimed not at Malaysians (priced too high), but Chinese looking to invest abroad.

They are just some failed real estate projects, far from being "ghost cities." Some developers bought land on the outskirts of cities, built properties, used them as collateral to obtain loans, and then used those loans to buy more land. These properties were too remote to sell, but since the developers' main goal was securing loans, they didn't care. Anyway, it was a crazy era, I'm glad it has come to a stop.

And foreign youtubers love these kind of places.(everybody goes to the fake paris Eiffel tower!)

Much of it has been paid for in advance by potential home owners, even when it has not actually been built.
Disastrous.

Agreed. Sad and embarrassing for yet another one of the gilded class who doesn’t need to be a callous asshole!

He’s talking shite about the chip company saying it was because if tariffs, however im sure that deal was before the the tariffs came in, so those rare earths they need will be tariffed to fuck or China will not give them, well played Donald!

I do wonder when they go home at night what their families say to them, I’d rather resign and work in a grocery shop than lie like these bastards are doing, anything for money and power, shithouses, imagine in years to come when their kids and grandkids are looking at them I’d have zero respect.

US Chamber of Commerce is calling on the Trump administration to immediately implement a "tariff exclusion process".

They say that's needed in order to keep the US economy from inflicting "irreparable harm" on small businesses and to "stave off a recession", our US partner network NBC News reports.

The US Chamber of Commerce says it represents three million small business owners.

It comes the day after it was announced that the US economy shrank 0.3% from January to March, its worst performance for three years.

Oh dear what a shame, I actually want them to fail so badly that this sort of thing will never happen again, I’m sorry to our American friends but 77 million voted for him what about the 200 million that didn’t, maybe just maybe they should’ve got off their arses to stop him.

No Doubt the orange one will claim that it is Bidens fault!
